Can heart meds cause kidney stones?

Woke up with lower back ache and what felt like uncomfortably full bladder. Escalated to 45’minutes of horrible back / stomach pain. Just subsiding now.

Symptoms suggest an infection or kidney stones.

I wondered if it could be bought on by my meds - statins, beta blockers etc. Anyone heard this before?

I have never heard of this. Beware of Doc Google though as there will be something to show they are! Do you know if your arteries were calcified as there then is something of a link to kidney and gall stones (when elevated calcium levels are present many parts of the body can be affected but this condition is rare).

The good news is that there are strong indications that statins reduce the risk of kidney stones.

I think you should call 111 as there is a possibility of a UTI. Having had one I know they can be thoroughly unpleasant and early intervention with antibiotics is important. Let us know how it goes!

Artery was blocked - but no mention of calcium. I’m back to normal again now....will see how the day goes.

Off to emergency doc at 10pm. Settled now but feverish and tender. Think I’d put a large bet on kidney stones if someone would take it.

Because if the bladder sensation you reported I will go each-way on a UTI. Let's hope it is unexplained and never reoccurs.

I’ll have a £1 with you - just in case. Makes evening slightly more entertaining.

OK... I assume you are waiting for the doc - hopefully his name is not Google! :)

No infection. Doc thinks I passed a small stone this am....no damage. But no physical evidence, so think our bet is even.

Good that no one wins! Getting ready to go out later. It is Drive-It Day for classic cars today so should be some interesting cars about. Just need some sun!☀️
