Balanitis for 3 months
I’ve been dealing with a fungal infection / Balanitis for the past 3 months 1/2. It started when I had smegma underneath my foreskin built up that caused redness. I was prescribed Ketoconazole and Desitin which got rid of the infection in 3 weeks. I was dealing with a bit of tip issues towards the end

NDT and T3 use given support by US workers
This publication just out in Thyroid journal discusses using NDT (DTE) and T3 in suitable circumstances. It is I believe the opening of the door that has closed against NDT and T3 use, and in the future should encourage properly designed trials. They acknowledge the existence of a subset of patients

11 years and counting, but still not under control
At 66 my wife found out she had an overactive thyroid. After four+ years with a specialist hospital department, they decided she could no longer have the medicine it was harmful long term, after changing the dose she went into a bad way and they offered a nuclear tablet solution, it would work between

Is it possible to stent four arterial blockages in one angioplasty?
My dad (62) has at least four significant arterial blockages (over 70%) one of which is in his LAD. He's scheduled for an angioplasty tomorrow and possible stenting, but with so many blocks I'm worried they'll have to do CABG. Has anyone been in this situation and only treated it with stents and meds

So shocked to realise how unhealthy I am
I'm so shocked to realise how unhealthy I am. And desperate to do what's needed to be healthier! But how do I decide where to focus? I don't use these sites so don't know if this post is appropriate. apologies if not! I had a TIA a fortnight ago so I'm half way through a month of not driving and

Crazy new numbers being thrown my way.
Hello everyone, so I had some bloods done yesterday at 1pm and at 9.30pm the hospital rang me to say my TSH level was now 100 (range 0.27-4.2). It had been 0.02 in June, 0.07 in July and I couldn't get tested in August. I also now have very low T3 (I was told this is less than 1.5 but I don't have a

A new path - 6 weeks after Aortic Valve and Root Op
Hi, Today (6 weeks and 2 days) my surgeon has 'discharged' me following telephone follow-up conversation. Based on my description of current level of exercise and discomfort (close to zero) along with a photo of my scar taken this morning I am: - able to drive; and - removing PPI (unless indigestion

diabetes and statins
I have type 2 diabetes and am overweight, now a nurse who has never seen me says I should take statins from what I've read, statins can cause diabetes, also, my cholesterol levels are fine, so why does she think I need to be on Statins ?

Advice please!
I have osteoarthritis in one hip and knee and feet for which I take codydramol at maximum dosage. I had a TIA in February and now have to take clopidogrel plus blood pressure meds. I came off statins because of severe muscle and joint pain. This has eased but my joints are all deteriorating including

Living with AF?
Hello all! This seems like a great forum! All new to me and at 57 am recovering from a cerebellum stroke and waiting to see cardiologist at end of September. I just wonder how everyone ‘lives’ with prescribed AF? Do you exercise or relax? Do you monitor heartbeat and respond accordingly? A little unclear

Will my dad be okay?
Hi all - I’m writing because I’m really worried about my dad (62 yrs). He’s been having some pain between his shoulder blades while exercising for a few months now. He went in to see his cardiologist last week, and came back with a calcium score of 2200 and an appointment for an angioplasty + at least

Is somatostatin an anticancer drug?
My husband was operated in 1996, 2000 and 2003 for a thymoma, and had two times RT after the first and the second treatment. The control CT were ok until 2020, he had only very small encapsulated nodules. But then he's got a prostate cancer in 2018. In 2018, November, he was operated for a Gleason 9

I posted recently about a large study where higher FT4, but no other tests such as TSH and FT3, had an influence on atrial fibrillation likelihood. We've now had a paper on the same lines and with basically the same conclusion accepted by Frontiers in Thyroid Endocrinology:
