3 weeks until superpath hip replacement
it’s becoming very real now! I need both hips replaced, my left is going first as only 10% mobility left even though my right is more painful. I have chosen Superpath to avoid muscle and tendon cut through all being well. A bit of a trek from Scotland to Leicester where there is an experienced surgeon

Why do i have a Resuscitation status section on my discharge letter from hospital?
I had knee surgery last week. Discharge letter had a section entitled Resuscitation Status on it (not ordered) which has never been in previous letters. On previous hospital visits prior to diagnosis of vasospastic angina this did not appear on any of my letters. Has anyone else seen this on their hospital

Hip replacement.
I have surgery booked for my right hip booked for 1st March. I'm having a dual mobility prosthesis as I have had lumbar surgery and I also have scoliosis and so am at greater risk of dislocation. Has anyone else had this, and did you have spinal or general anaesthetic when you have spinal problems.

Failing ADT
Hi- I thought I would seek some advice before I meet with my MO tomorrow morning. I have responded well to treatment of metPC since my dx 11+ years ago. About 2+ years ago my PSA became measurable and was rising. After about a year or so I think it reached .37. Following a PSMA scan, my MO saw only

scared
I’m nearly 2 years on from a triple bypass and now need 2 full knee replacements. I can have them done when I like as I’m fortunate enough to have private healthcare. But I am so terrified of yet more surgery. Family and friends keep telling me it will be a ‘walk in the park’ compared to what I had before

Hip replacement date
Hello All, It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here, I finally got into sheltered housing last April & got a lovely little bungalow I’m over the moon with. It was in very good content with decent carpets curtains, and blinds left & got a decorating/other grant from the council that I wasn’t expecting

25th Park Run!
It may not seem like a big deal but it is to me. I couldn't walk til I was 4, have had 3 hip replacements and back surgery. I never ran before I was 69 and now I've done 25 Park runs. I'm feeling very proud of myself. I even knocked a minute off last week's time! It was a glorious morning. I just took

Why has my TSH increased after several years of taking the same dose of Thyroxine?
Background - following RI treatment for an overactive thyroid I have been taking 75mcg Levothyroxine daily since 2015. At that time the consultant endocrinologist said that I should aim for a TSH of around 2. I have annual blood tests and the previous two years the readings have been 2.7 and 2.9

Knee massager with red light
Has anyone with osteoarthritis in knees try a personal knee massager with red light instead of knee surgery? If so did it work?

Aortic Stenosis I’m so confused!
Hi all, so glad I’ve stumbled across this forum!!!. I was found to have a heart murmur by accident in 2012. I was put under cardiology where they told me I had a bicuspid valve and was seen every 3 years initially. Iwas later signed off because they said it wasn’t progressing but to go back if I noticed

Weekly Chat 22 - 28 January: jinxed it 🙈🤷♀️🛋️
(Edited to clarify I didn't really think I needed a hip replacement - I just looked as if I was on a waiting list for one if you watched me trying to get going from a stop! Apologies for any overdramatisation leading to confusion 🙈) Hello lovely VRBs. How's your week been? We'd love to hear all about

Atrial fibrillation after steroids
Has anyone experienced atrial fibrillation after starting steroids? 4 years ago I had steroid injections in both knees, and less than 48 hours later suddenly went into persistent rapid AF, having no previous history of it. I found some Dutch research that found new atrial fibrillation was more common

Total Hip Replacement Decision
Hello Friends, I have ET-MPL 515L, and this is year 10 with the disease, and I am doing well thanks to Pegasys. I have been informed, due to arthritis, I need a total hip replacement. Those of us with MPN's are at increased risk of vertebrae and hip fractures, YIKES! In discussions with my Oncologist

Info on NHS weigh management tier 3
Hi all, I’ve struggled with my weight since my 30s but now it’s out of control. I’ve done WW and SW but with no success, and cannot exercise. Six years I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have bone on bone arthritis in my right knee, however I was mobile. Now I’m six stone heavier, in constant pain

It's back after 7 years!
Hi ladies, not been following these groups for a while as had total hysterectomy in 2016 removing uterus and ovaries after many years of pain with stage 4 endo on womb, bowel and pouch of douglas. Went on HRT and have gradually got better since -until about 18 months ago. The symptoms I used to suffer

Steve 6 and a half years since heart failure.
My heart problems materialised when my customer said to me you look terrible as I wheeled a barrow up a ramp with heavy concrete blocks. Next morning I was in a ward being told I had heart failure. Was a shock and after 2 years on meds was finally sent in for a aortic root and valve replacement. So
