New paper below [1]. The thymus has an important immunological role during childhood, but strangely, shrivels up at puberty. A PubMed search of gives 1,753 hits, going back 100 years. Many years ago, I discovered that castration could cause the thymus to regenerate. I wondered what that meant for

on vacation from Zytiga; getting arthritis in hands
Good morning all! I have Gleason nine, stage four prostate cancer, with four known small, skeletal metastases, diagnosed in 2019. I was on Zytiga and prednisone for 2 1/2 years, with undetectable PSA during that time, down from a high of only four. I’ve been on a Zytiga holiday, for 10 months now.

A sprinkle of Christmas magic & a dash of hope 💫
I read a post like this about 10 months ago and it gave me the kick up the bum I needed to change clinics and has lead to our first IVF BFP after 6 full rounds. So this is me attempting to maybe pay it forward. When you are faced by failure, round after round it can literally be soul destroying. After

Pain while taking steroids
I have a very nasty chest infection, feeling very unwell still . I’ve been on antibiotics and 40 mg prednisone since Monday. I am getting quite a lot of pain around my lower back. I’m wondering if this is kidneys? Or adrenals? I also have pain at the back of my ribs from coughing but this other pain

Post Covid Queries!
Hi! I tested positive for Covid 2 weeks ago… it’s caused an asthma flare but luckily I got prescribed steroids for a week which, along with my Fostair and Ventolin inhalers, kept things stable enough for me to stay home. My GP signed me off for a further week after my 1st week of self certifying, however

Reducing advice from high steroids following GCA scare please
I had my scan yesterday so awaiting results. GP also rang a couple of days ago to say that my bloods from last week have come back much better. ESR had dropped to 7 from 40 in 10 days of taking 60mg of pred. I dropped to 40 yesterday and have asked rheumatologist what and when I can drop again. Not sure

Yes, it's true! Just like the busses, things always come in threes! So now, to add to the broken wrist and the bruised bum, my dearly beloved and I have both gone down with this rotten winter bug. Not COVID, not Flu - just the chest infection and generally feeling rubbish! But we're still functioning
