Hello, I have a daughter that is 2 years old. She has been fighting asthma symptoms for about a year and a half. She has been hospitalized six times over the past year and was on oxygen & steroids during her stay. Just recently, she was prescribed an inhaler for acute asthma. Her doctor didn't fully diagnose her yet due to her age. She recently got sick and is starting to have mild breathing issues. I watch her oxygen like a hawk and hasn't gone past 93. I started her inhaler treatments 2 days ago, but I have a feeling we will be visiting the hospital soon. The reason for my post is for some advice and backstories of others that have been through a similar situation with children. Also, when was "your" child diagnosed?

Have you been given a plan as for signs to look out for and what action to take. According to this site oxygen levels are a poor indicator for asthmatics. Can have reasonable levels and suddenly plummet. Visable signs such as how chest looks when breathing is useful.
I think you should contact asthma nurses here for advice. Or call 111. But really the asthma nurses who will be available now might be best way forward.
I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. As a fellow mother of a 2-year-old, I can only imagine how hard this on her, you, and your whole family.
What meds is she on and what is her treatment protocol when she worsens? Do you have a nebulizer at home? I can't imagine how hard this is during the holidays too when I'm sure you just want everyone to be able to rest and relax. Sending a hug.
