Up and Running F
First week of Methotrexate 10mg and Folic Acid 5mg, same this week, then methotrexate up to 15mg. I just need to find out when to reduce the steroids to 30 mg. I am on 40 mg at the moment and all is ok.

Advice please
Hello. I am new to this site but not new to prednisone. I was diagnosed with GCA in 2016 through a regular eye test, nearly didn’t go as felt very fluey at the time. Glad I did I was sent straight to hospital with a letter to be seen immediately by a rheumatologist. My CRP was 139 and I was started on

Steroids not working?
I’ve just had a 5 day rescue course of prednisolone due to an asthma flare. However, my peak flow is still only about 70% and I have an itchy, scratchy throat and cough. I don’t actually have a cold so I’m not sure what’s going on. I’ve never had a course of steroids before where it hasn’t made me completely

how long to recover
I have been unwell with an infection and exacerbation of my asthma. I usually carry on working as long as I can when I’m on steroids and antibiotics but I have been off work for a week and I feel guilty. 2 courses of pred down and still wheezy. I think I will need another course but it is getting better

Pain Concern
Hello Again. Has anyone had an epidural steroid injection for shingles pain? I am scheduled for one and I'm scared. I have had trigger point injections in the past, but those go into muscle where this would go to the nerves that shingles infect. This doctor is very good at what she does so I have no

first orthotics
disappointed. The podiatrist hardly looked at the foot and spent most of the appointment typing then without any measurements or gait test said he’s ordered me a pair that would arrive by post in the fullness of time. I suspect these will be no better than the well known brand I ordered online and

update on subacute thyroiditis
Just posting an update on my experience with subacute thyroiditis. Thanks for the support in this forum! Since mid August I was quite unwell with classic symptoms of thyroiditis (significant neck pain, high inflammatory markers) and became quite thyrotoxic. I was eventually given a course of steroids

Offered montelukast
Hi there! I'm new here and not sure why I haven't thought to join this before. I've been struggling with my asthma for some time now and have just been offered montelukast because I've not settled after almost 3 weeks of max. Inhalers and a course of steroids. I was just wondering if anyone has experience

any one had to stop work due to health?
Iam 61, had thought I’d work until I was at least 65. I’ve just had a year off during which I had a craniotomy and RT as well as dealing with taking steroids for GCA which isn’t helping! I have just started a phased return to work. Work have been amazing and my return is very flexible. However, I don

yesterday I saw my new rheumatologist and her advice was for me to start reducing my steroids by 1 mg per month until I get down to 5 mg ( I am currently on 11 mg a day and have been reducing by half a mg each month) then 1 mg every 2 months. I have been told that they will increase my methotrexate to

My GCA Update
I just got done with my MRIs and MRAs, so we’ll see if results show much. My blood test came back with sed rate normal (always has been) and C-reactive prrotein headed down. It went from normal in PMR, to 1.3 and then 2.0 in GCA. Now at 0.8, so barely high and heading in the right direction. Still feeling
