First week of Methotrexate 10mg and Folic Acid 5mg, same this week, then methotrexate up to 15mg. I just need to find out when to reduce the steroids to 30 mg. I am on 40 mg at the moment and all is ok.

Did the rheumy not give you a time scale?

I wouldn't be in too much hurry - MTX takes up to a few months to have much effect for some. Even 15mg is a lowish dose and the usual in PMR is 20mg. If you have any side effects - hair loss, mouth ulcers in particular, then ask about more folic acid. 5mg is a very small dose.

I also wouldn't drop from 40 to 30mg in one go - I would go 5mg at a time to reduce the discomfort of steroid withdrawal, More haste, less speed.

Thanks for that, 12 weeks was mentioned but I will call the nurse today and I have an appointment every 2 weeks and blood tests.

Yes I have a log book that I sign next to the dose as I take it, I then have blood tests before she adds to it,
