Saw Endo today - dismissive of blood results

Hi all, saw the endocrinologist today. Had to drive for 3 hours and then wait for almost 3 more hours to see her. Had completed the Thyroid UK signs and symptoms form which indicated that I have more than three quarters of the symptoms. Also brought my Medicheck blood results done Oct 2016 that indicates that I have Hashi.

She looked at blood results and said ' Good news, all your bloods are normal' I said what about the auto immune thyroiditis? She said no treatment required for that, the American Endocrinoloy association guidelines state no treatment required when bloods in range and yours are. Refused to discuss further and said I'm discharging you today! To which I replied, good, because I wasn't planning on coming back to see you again and was going to ask for a discharge anyway! She was so condescending and smug, I felt like slapping her, she spent a total of 3 minutes with me. So now have to consider what my next plan of action will be. Possibly self treating? Will have to gather my energy at weekend and have a think. Thanks to all for your wonderful support and advice prior to my app. Anna.

It is so disappointing when your hopes are built up that, at last, someone will diagnose and treat. I think the arrogance is the worst thing. Especially when you had such a long round trip which was a waste of time. They have absolutely no knowledge of disabling clinical symptoms and treat acording to blood results rather than aknowledging the patient's symptoms. Maybe this link will be helpful:

Here is an article about infections and Hashimotos

Also as you have Hashimoto's are you on gluten free diet. This may really help reduce symptoms, and lower antibodies slowly over time too.

Selenium supplements can help improve conversion of T4 to T3 and may also lower antibodies

Wow! 9 hours and 3 minutes of your life totally wasted that you'll never get back on an utterly useless moron who would be better occupied sweeping streets! No wonder most of us resort to self-treating a condition we know more about than a thousand endocrinologists put together! 😡

Oh no what a cow 😩 How maddening when you were expecting help.

Do you have a functional medicine dr near you, know there's lots in the States.

I'll just add

Izabella Wentz website.

Amy Myers has good info.

Dr Datis Khazzarian

Auto Immune Recovery Plan by Susan Blum MD is good if you have gut problems.

Gluten and dairy free will make a big difference.
