Knee replacement and Parkinson's
Husband with Parkinson's getting steadily worse now, particularly balance/walking. Diagnosed 5 years ago, probably had it 3/4 years previously. The problem is that he now needs total knee replacement for both knees. We have a very long awaited appointment with Neurology nurse in October to discuss

Needing help
Hiya ladies my gynaecologist has finally agreed to surgery but needing to lose a Stone I've last 2 already but finding it hard to shift this last bit any suggestions ps not a big eater anymore could go through the day with just one meal. I'm thinking about just doing the shakes to replace the food instead

When Your AF Meds Crash the Pain Relief Party
I am currently on a waitlist for a total knee replacement (TKR) and have been diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial flutter/atrial fibrillation (AF/AFL). Before the surgery, I plan to have an in-depth conversation with the anesthesiologist regarding the strong pain medications (opioids) typically prescribed

DBS and it's benefits
My neurologist has recommended for DBS . As per the data ,I am informed that the success rate is 90%.Here also the neurologists are divided in two. Few says that medicine will continue even after DBS while other say no. I would request those who have been operated for DBS to share their actual experience

What's next?
Surgery, pelvic and prostate bed radiation. 2 years zytiga/lupron. PSA <0.04 for 2 years. Radiation oncologist agrees with 2 MO no scans till PSA rises. 2 MO say no more treatment unless PSA rises. What is best next treatment if needed? Nervous not being proactive. Both MOs agreed only 2 years lupron.

Randi Needs a Kidney
My name is Randi and I live in Maine. I have had kidney disease for many years. Over time my kidney disease has gotten worse, causing my kidneys not to work well enough to keep me alive. My treatments at this time are limited to dialysis or a kidney transplant. I have been on dialysis for some time now

more joint issues
hello , has anyone on this wonderful platform needed an ankle fusion? My sub talar joint has collapsed and I have been recommended a fusion and repositioning of tendon. In the meantime I have been troubled by severe knee pain , X-ray was normal! However MRI shows a meniscal tear and stage 4 osteoarthritis

Not losing weight on an Atkins Diet- suggestions please
I am a 76 year old man. My BMI is in the stated range at 22 though I’m not sure the calculations for BMI at my age are valid or whether the tables factor in the variable and progressive muscle wasting of old age. I have very evident muscle wasting compared to my younger more active days which is normal

Is my chronic pain back? Need advice and someone to talk too.
Hi everyone. I have had surgery to remove endometriosis 13 weeks ago. I was pain free for 11 weeks and now for the past 2 weeks I’ve been in chronic pain everyday. Pelvis pain, Stabbing groin pain, burning aching legs and lower back pain into my bum. Has surgery not worked? What happens now? I’m terrified

Carboplatin and Caelyx chemo combination
Hello everyone. Just wondering if anyone has had the combination of carboplatin and Caelyx for recurrence? I had review following scan this week and was told some recurrence in lymph nodes, pelvis and axillary. This wasn't a complete surprise as since finishing my treatment in February and starting niraparib

Mitral Valve Regurgatation
I was referred to cardiology in March 2024. I had an echocardiogram which showed I had moderate to severe mitral regurgatation. I was already getting breathless on excertion ,I have since had all the relative tests needed before surgery for repair to valve which could be done keyhole. I was told back

Not losing weight on Atkins Diet. Any suggestions please?
I am a 76 year old man. My BMI is healthy at 22 though I’m not sure the calculations for BMI at my age are valid. I have very evident muscle wasting compared to my younger more active days which is normal and to be expected. I have also developed an early pot belly which is not good for my male ego.

Possible Hysterectomy at 42 as feel everything else hadn’t worked
My first time posting and really sorry for the long post. I have been struggling for the last 13 years, I’ve lost all of my thirties to pain and discomfort. My first laparoscopy and helium beam treatment back in 2011 they detected peritoneal pocketing found in the left uteri- sacral ligament and left
