After pelvic floor surgery 9 days ago I have been in Afib diagnosed by feeling as well as my smart watch. The longest I have ever had it is two days. I am on Edoxabsn, candersatan and Bisoprolol. Should I just wait for it stop.

Hi Croydegal.

Sadly afib doen't ever go away. That's the bad news - here's the good.

The condition can be controled by med's. You won't even know you have it once you to touch base with the right mix. It can be trial and error but with your doctors help it can be done. You'll get there so stop your worry.

Loads of best Paul

Hi, You don’t say what dosage you are on with the drugs. If it was me, l would want my numbers to be in range and not too high or fast. If they were ok then l would sit it out, providing it doesn’t go on too long. If l had chest pain, felt dizzy and nauseated then l would phone 999. No hesitation. Try some deep breathing to keep you calm and if you don’t feel happy with the way that you feel, go to AE. Hope it soon settles for you.

Thank you, I think I will sit it out. The range is from 59 to 85. I don’t feel any other symptoms of heart attack etc I do feel my HR is more rapid when I get stressed that I still have it but otherwise just symptoms from my surgery. I take 2.5 mg Bisoprolo, 4mg candrsarten, 60mg Edoxaban.

You should be ok. Hope it soon passes - remember it does - and if you can relax it will help it to go quicker. 🥰

Since you are within normal rate range (60 to 100) you should not worry too much. Remember that provided rate is well controlled and you are anticoagulated (edoxaban) AF is not a problem and many people are constantly in AF and rate controlled . Try to stay relaxed, well hydrated and avoid stress. If you have access to an arrhythmia nurse then call them if you are worried .

Remember that any inflamation can bring on AF.

That sure is a possibility. I’m just sitting it out for a few more days.

depending on how bad it is it may just be the trauma of having surgery and whatever type of anesthesia you had. I just had about two weeks of it and I have a pacemaker. It was the feeling that I had not that I felt like I was going to hit the floor or not but a fib wears on you. I’m pretty sure it was a fib, although supposedly mine is gone, and I have a typical flutter. Even with a pacemaker, you will have times that you get the feeling. This is the longest I ever had it and it was pretty much my fault. I triggered it. I have felt so good and I went out with my cousin one day to do errands . We have had several months of 100° plus for the most part plus a hurricane and another storm before that also considered a disaster so it’s been a bit stressful also. it seem to be the first normal day we had had for over a month so we went to lunch. The food was fantastic and I also had a glass of icy sangria. It’s only the second one I have had since I got a fib. It did not bother me right away, but I ate everything lol and had my wine. Then the really foolish part was I stayed in the car while my cousin went into Walmart. I should’ve known better shop longer than I do lol the AC in the car did not help by the time he came out, I felt as though I was about to pass out , when we got home, I sat on the edge of my bed and that’s pretty much the last I remembered because except for up and down for water and calls of mother nature I slept for 20 hours. To say I was not smart about things would be putting it mildly . With the pacemaker, the good thing is the palpitations are not harmful to my heart anymore, but that being said they still feel like the old ones. As others will tell you, we are always going to have it. The majority of procedures are just Band-Aids to give us a break . My pacemaker has given me a whole new lease on life unless I’m not very smart and then I’m going to pay the price by being very uncomfortable.

Before the pacemaker I had a fib and flutter with a heart rate close to 200 on a constant basis we won’t talk about the doctor I had at the time. Again my fault for not taking it into my hands and getting to another doctor sooner. I actually ended up with heart failure, but here I am feeling fantastic now sometimes we are our own worst enemies. Sometimes we do think that we do not know are going to set things off but I say when in doubt don’t do it. I had learned in the very beginning about over eating, no matter how good it was in fact at the same restaurant lol. We are all human we all slip, but this was quite the things this time around. There is nothing I like to eat or drink enough to want to feel like that again if I can help.

if your numbers are OK as mine were I would say it’s just from the surgery. I have no idea how long it takes to heal from what you had done but healing takes time. If you get really nervous call your doctor only he can really tell you what’s going on or if he wants to see you.

I am may be needing hip surgery soon and I dread the thought of anything triggering me again I have a doctor that believes in non-invasive whenever he can so I’m hoping for the best. When this is over, I’ll bet you’re gonna feel great from your other surgery, unfortunately that’s something I’m looking at also it’s stinky to get older

hi

I underwent Mess remove J&J TVT sling on March 2022. It had done damage and would continue.

My surgeon top Uter-Gynae surgeon performed but stated Northshore Hospital rather than private for better support care and I stayed overnight.

Check on UTI as this woud help your AF.

AsI am persistent and rapid with n pals, flutters or pain I got through it.

Hosptal showed me how the tens machine works. And gave me a second one.]]It is a gory operation and luckily for me and you no excessive bleeding although you stopped your anti-coagulant I expect as I do. The suegeon's only fear.

Mine wasn't placed in properly so easier to take out, but the inflammation was apparent and no wonder it migrated.

Have a blood test a UTI test and rest up.

You will heal. I was on an antibiotic prior. during and after.

Take care
