Steroid injections the only answer for me?
Hi all, I had the injection in the spine early November last year and the pain in my right leg and buttocks was literally gone. Oh what bliss! After two weeks the arthritis in the spine became much more painful, I am not sure if it was my brain telling me that now one severe pain has gone, we can get

The past 2 years have not been good but, it is made worse by doctors, physio's etc telling you that it is just you fibro. I demanded to see my RA doctor and eventually got a appointment, I then made a appointment with the nurse for her to take my bloods. Doctor phoned to tell me I was borderline thyroid

Inflammation ... what's your's like?
My ESR has been going down for months & eventually reached 23 about 6 weeks ago. Since then it's been on the rise, jumping up to 44 a week after a steroid injection! Previously steroids in any form have been magic inflammation banishers for me so I don't get it at all. I'm interested to know whether

Steroid injection
Hi all, As most of you know I had a steroid injection in my knee on Monday, I have been able to put weight on it and walk around without crutches, but after doing a shop around the supermarket on Friday I had to resort back to the crutches again. The pain feels deep in the knee and is sensitive to

Latest part of my saga
I went to see the hospital consultant this morning. I’d asked to see a different consultant and although her registrar had contacted me and offered me the appointment, I actually saw her – for a good ¾ hr. She was very thorough, took a full case history and about how I had been recently. And she

Your support really helped!
I thought that it would be nice to let you know how I got on yesterday with the new rheumatologist, particularly for those of you who gave help and support when I asked your opinions on how to deal with the consultation. You will remember I was worried that she may think that I didn't need immediate

No firm diagnosis but I don't really mind
My first rheumie sent me for lots of tests (MRI, ultrasound, X-rays and a load of blood tests), started me on Plaquenil at my next appointment, then steroid injections into my shoulder joint. I really felt I was getting somewhere after 3 appointments. He felt it wasn't RA (which was suspected at my original

Confusion with blood results...
Just got a letter from my consultant with blood results. ANA positive 1:400.Is that high? Also, dsDNA <20 kU/L. What does that mean? Is that positive dna results? I'm so confused. My local rheumatologist told me I had lupus. The rheumatologist in Birmingham said fibromyalgia. I've just read his letter

Went to the consultant last week, had a steroid injection which hasn't taken all the pain away
I have to wait and see the RA nurse to get my medication, does anyone know how long you have to wait to see her? Weeks or months?

Greater Occipital Nerve Injection - after effects?
My Neurologist has just recommended I have this jab. He did so last time I saw him in 2004 but I chickened out at the time! Since then I've had a nerve block prior to a GA for an op on my left shoulder and also two steroid injections in my right shoulder which "cured" that stiff shoulder problem. I

Joint pain only?
Hi, as I posted recently, I was told last year that I had fibro secondary to seroneg arthritis but was recently told they think all my pain is due to fibro. I'm not convinced they've got it right as most posts I've read here indicate different pain patterns to mine. Does anyone only ever get pain in
