what is the difference between oral steroids and a steroid injection?
I had an intramuscular depo medrone injection but didn't seem to get the same result as when I get oral steroids. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two and why so I seem to get a better result for tennis elbow/hip bursitis from the oral steroids? Advice would really be appreciated

pain killers - what works?
I have been taking over the counter paracetamol and ibuprofen. I am on steroid injections and just about to start weekly methx injections (oral tabs haven't worked) I also take sulfasalazine daily. The pain is not being touched by the paracetamol and ibuprofen I am seeing Doctor later today to discuss

Wondering if anyone had any ransom tips as a cant find a comfy position and nothing seems to ease the pain. Iv tried hot

Royal pain in the butt
About 12 years ago I fell on my coccyx while riding my horse, I was young and didn't think much about it, except for the excruciating pain for a few months. But I survived. Since my hysterectomy in 2005 I have had a few bouts with IC, urgency, low libido and typical menopausal symptoms. I have always

Newbie in need of reassurance
Hi guys I have been coming back to your blogs for the last two months after stumbling onto the site and have now signed up. I am 27 and last week was diagnosed with 'lupus like' symptoms. I have had a mystery illness since the age of 9 that no-one had been able to diagnose and it came and went

Wobbly legs, does anybody else get this?
Hi all, Since about Christmas I have been getting a sudden weakness in my legs, they feel very wobbly like they are made of jelly! I have just had an instance where I could not make them work at all, and I must admit it scared me. I had augmentation, according to my Doctor, and he has changed

To shave or not to shave my hair?!
Hi all I'm 24 I've had AA for 9 months now. I had steroid injections back in January in my largest bald area by the nape of my neck and I have some regrowth. However my patch is still getting bigger so the regrowth from the injections hasn't helped all that much. I am due to go back to my dermatologist

So scared of this uncontrolled pain and more to come from dental treatment on 9th, before I can start Enbrel hopefully soon.
I am really sorry folks but my sense of humour and support is not good just now so please excuse me. I feel so bad my interest in almost everything is going. I had an awful time at the bone scan yesterday with my knees and legs being forced apart and over a plastic triangle for trying to get a better

Positive at last!
Hi Everyone. Just an update and some positive news. Some of you might remember from previous posts that I've seriously struggled for many years and had an absolutely awful time last year, I went to see the Prof D'cRUZ at St Thomas. After a nasty flare last year I never felt as if I fully recovered

Going to be a difficult next couple of weeks.
I wish this freezing UK weather would b***** off. I have gone downhill so much and if I try go out I am in agony for ages and take two days to come round. The all over relief of my steroid injection I had six weeks ago worn off apart from to the knee itself whichnis ok. Well at least I got one half

New - osteoarthritis, back problems, ? polymyalgia rheumatica, ? fibromyalgia
Hi - I'm Ann. I'm nearly 67 and have had osteoarthritis for about 10 years. I've had two successful hip replacements. I've also had steroid injections and radio-frequency ablation for lower back problems, and am going back to the pain clinic on 9th April. Several years ago I had what was diagnosed

Communication! Isn't it a good thing?
Well, my Duke orthopedist's office has answered my questions. Hooray! ! And so today I was equipped with a list of what the orthopedist plans to inject me. Thus I was able to ask my allergist's opinion about whether my body is likely to play nice with these drugs . He does not think I will have
