Tapering experience
Maybe it takes a much larger dose of
steroids
to bring it under control and a slower taper to manage the ongoing illness. I appreciate your thoughts.

She has had two doses of radiation as well as
steroids
. So far (about 2 weeks later)there has been minimal improvement. Doctors want to treat the pain but there has been limited investigation of the cause. We are presently awaiting CT results. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

PMR flare? Reluctant to keep on highish doses of steroids.
My questions are: 1) I'm very reluctant to have to keep on 20mg
steroids
for a long time, but equally well know the drawbacks of methotrexate. What have other people found and decided in similar circumstances?

Hand/foot pain reduced movement.
I’m due to have an ultrasound of my hands in 2 weeks so my consultant doesn’t want me to have a course of
steroids
(the only thing that works for me to relieve pain) Has anyone got any suggestions to improve hand movement/ease pain in the interim?

methotrexate advice
I’ve been on
steroids
for six months since being diagnosed with PMR. I’ve had a lot of difficulties with them and have been referred to rheumatology. The consultant is going to try me on methotrexate. I’d be grateful for any tipis, suggestions, advice from anyone who has tried methotrexate.

Adrenal glands and reflexology
I hadn’t mentioned anything about
steroids
or adrenals before and she said it was an unusual place on the foot to find resistance. She felt more reflexology would help spring the adrenals back in to life (I’m slowly trying to reduce from 7mg) and also recommended aurolic acupuncture.

Yet another update on Swollen Eye
In the absence of any other diagnosis, including GCA, they are left with 'Steroid reaction' whci prompted them to say "we need to get you off these
steroids
quickly". Oh dear...after a full explanation why that is not possible with PMR, they understood once the consultant was involved.

Alternative days taper
I have stayed on 5mg
steroids
for 3 months due to another flare. I have been advised to taper 5mg one day then 4mg the day after for one month, then 4mg for a month then alternate days 4 mg and 3mg etc. She did say if this doesn’t work will look at methotrexate.

It says it is now safe to stop taking

Eyesight and Steroids
I've not mentioned this to the doctor yet, as when I googled
steroids
and vision it was actually more focused on
steroids
making eyesight worse - so wondered whether anybody else had experienced improved eyesight before I see the Dr for a catch up next week. Any input is appreciated.

silent reflux?
Five courses of oral
steroids
and six lots of antibiotics. One episode of AF triggered by coming off the
steroids
I think. My asthma meds have recently been changed and I am feeling much better. But I want to get on top of the silent reflux.

change of mind from GP on blood in urine and possible UTI.
re-test for blood in urine, in 2 weeks, though she said was only small trace Now feeling more happy that this is likely to have been caused by UTI for sure the
steroids
could also be to blame for this. Reduced to 9,g now and touch wood going well.

NK cells and pcos -steroids or hydroxychloroquine?
Reading about the
steroids
a side effect is insulin resistance which I already have and am predisposed to both gestational diabetes and type 2 diabetes due to my PCOS and also a family history.
