Have you changed your toothbrush? That can reinfect if you continue using the same one.
If the thrush has spread further down the gut, it can be a cycling problem, reinfecting repeatedly. Sometimes you need a systemic treatment with tablets for real success.
But are you sure it is thrush causing the mouth problem?
Are you using medicated mouthwashes? If so, you can end up with a disrupted oral flora and your natural defences against things like fungal growth are stripped away. Thrush fungus lives in our body and it requires a healthy bacterial growth to stop overgrowth. If you have a raised blood sugar, and no healthy bacteria and possible physical abrasion, the fungus will have ideal conditions in which to thrive.
When I was severely immunocompromised on chemo I found that the washes themselves also made my oral mucosa slightly inflamed and thrush set up shop in a flash. Some products were worse than others and stronger Chlorhexidine was the worst. Salt washes or proper physical, gentle cleaning with spot treatment or a course of medicated wash rather than continuous was far more effective. When I was on high doses of Pred I followed the same and had only very occasional thrush.
are you sure it’s oral thrush? Has it been diagnosed as that, please? I had a dreadful taste & feeling in my mouth the whole 8 weeks I was on the keto diet…it’s a known issue. Your doctor has not prescribed the ‘norm’, in my limited opinion! I have had oral Thrush 3 times in past 4 years. My tongues was coated with a thick white ‘nastiness’. Not sure what you mean my ‘awful feeling’ tbh. For me it sounds more like keto issues?? The Thrush killer used in my case was Nystan.
Yes it was diagnosed and put on Nystan Been Keto for many years as I was diagnosed diabetic 2018 and since then pre diabetic. Waiting for bloods in Feb. 🤞🏼I’m still pre diabetic. Just doesn’t seem to be having the outcome I expected. Back to doctor I think. Just need to get an appointment!!!
