Taper Advice after too fast a taper
Sorry in advance that this is such a long post. Thank you for your consideration of my dilemma. I really value this wonderful forum and the expertise and experience of you all. The journey so far. Diagnosed GCA in July 2023. Had previously months of headaches, malaise, back to back frozen shoulders

Synacthen Test
Hi, I received a letter from my Rheumatologist saying that my cortisol levels are normal following the Synacthen test 2 weeks ago. It says it is now safe to stop taking steroids. My question is, as i have been on steroids for over 5 years should i just stop or continue reducing. I am now taking 2.5mg

I take six Methotrexate tablets every Thursday morning. I was weaned off the magical steroids after about seven months into the disease. That was in Summer 2021. My condition appears to be stable. I have very few serious pains, and so far seem to have avoided the flares for which RA is ntorious RA though

Swelling back after knee aspiration
Hi everyone,I have had a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis for about 10 years now (although the symptoms had been there many years longer like so many of us). I am on a weekly Metoject 20mg and 6x 500g Sulfasalazine daily. It tends to be my knees that are particularly affected and over the last 10

pain killers
I have lower back pain after a strenuous evening of indoor climbing. What pain killers can I take in addition to the steroids I’m on. Many thanks

an update on dealing with my flare - lightbulb moment
all you lovely people Since adding 5mg of pred to deal with my self induced flare (that’ll teach me to overdo it!) I have realised that things hadn’t been right for a while before I embarked on my over walking in the sunshine. To use the bucket analogy, mine had been full ( and dripping over) and

Potentially Heading Flarewards
Long post warning!!! After 4 years since diagnosis I thought I was starting to work towards the home straight. I have had 3 relatively PMR pain-free years with my issues being more anxiety or “other stuff” related. My tapering has been slowed down considerably by a couple of GCA concerns which thankfully

Azithromycin
Discharged recently from hospital after a long period of exacerbations and then pneumonia. After weeks of oral antibiotics and steroids had to have IV antibiotics. Next time I will probably have to begin IV immediately on flare up. I take 250 mg Azithromycin 3 times a week and was wondering does any

Classification Criteria vs. Diagnosis Criteria
I learned something new while reading this article on PMR: https://www.cmaj.ca/content/193/46/E1770 It says "The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) and American College of Rheumatology (ACR) criteria can distinguish polymyalgia rheumatica from mimicking conditions." However, I then clicked

GCA and PMR now RA
Hi all and hope you get to feel soon. I was diagnosed with PMR just over 4 years and although some set backs I eventually got to 5Mg Pred. I was doing quite well but developed TMJ on to GCA. I was back up to 60mg but slowly got to 5 Mg again. Started feeling let’s say not quite as well but very little

Glaucoma after transplant
Like many transplant patients I was on a regiment of steroids after transplant. Unlike some I have had to continue a small dose after 4 years post transplant due to rejection. Within that time I have had gout and eye infections which included the use of steroids for inflammation. One of these responses

Atorvastatin
I have been advised to go on the above Statin, having read the reviews I’m concerned about starting it, I have GCA & PMR and have managed to cut down to 3.5mg of Steroids and am on 20mg of Methotrexate and am virtually pain free now, has any one else taken Atorvastain along with Steroids and Methotrexate

migraine
I know I’ve been on here multiple times, I do mindfulness and yoga, practice somatic tracking, but I still lie in bed everyday with intractable migraine following a blow to the back of my head 3 years ago. I have tried twice to commit suicide because the migraine simply does not lift. I am meant to be
