Like many transplant patients I was on a regiment of steroids after transplant. Unlike some I have had to continue a small dose after 4 years post transplant due to rejection. Within that time I have had gout and eye infections which included the use of steroids for inflammation. One of these responses to steroid use has been steroid induced glaucoma. Presently I am on 2 eye drops, lanaprost and rhopressa. The newer of these 2 is rhopressa which reviews have identified with some adverse side effects. Has anyone used these types of eye drops long term and what did you experience? I had 2 other drops prescribed before rhopressa. One I was allergic to and the other interacted with metoprolol and my heart rate dipped below 60. Rhopressa seems to affect my blood pressure and the pressure spikes in the early afternoon so my medication schedule has changed for blood pressure medication to compensate. Any input would be appreciated.

Glaucoma after transplant
As you probably know from prior posts, my hubby contracted shingles and it affected his eyes. He had to take specific meds to prevent blindness - but now he, too, has lifelong glaucoma as the side effects of those meds Currently, he's taking Prednosol One and Timolol Meleate. His retina and uveitis specialist said he will soon be reduced to just one of those for the rest of his life. She noted it's a small price to pay for keeping his sight. We agree. It's been a long 7-month ordeal for us. I'm sorry we can't help you with rhopressa and that you're having so many issues finding a good med for yourself, Eyak. It's hard to figure things out, especially when one is also dealing with a transplant and those meds. My hubby is lucky - he tolerates most meds well.
