I wonder if you have seen the article Pro on even small doses of steroids on cardiovascular health. Seems to be a British research article. Don't know how to share the link.NIHR. Ac. Uk
National institute for care and health research. - PMRGCAuk
National institute for care and health research.
I think someone asked about it a bit back. We need the title of the article to try to find it - NIHR,Ac,UK will not find it on its own. Where did you find it?
I assume you mean this one?

If I remember rightly, there is an increased risk of cardiac events in those diseases anyway. It is a doubling of RISK though - not a doubling of actual numbers, That is a very different thing, There is an increased risk of developing a/fib when you have PMR anyway - I have it but it has nothing to do with the pred I have taken, I had it long before I was put on pred. But life expectancy isn't reduced in PMR so it obviously doesn't make that much difference.
I needed/need pred for PMR - without it life wasn't particularly pleasant, It has risks - I will have to live with that I think. No point worrying about it.
As PMRpro has said no point in worrying about.. it may never happen.. but if it does then do something about.
Many drugs have unwanted affects on the body, but Pred always seems to be the whipping boy in some researchers minds.
If you look at the side effects of an awful lot of drugs they can cause liver, kidney, heart etc etc problems. The ones that really worry me is when ‘death’ is number one on the list!
