statins!
I am wondering if anyone else here is taking
statins
? I have resisted until now but have given in. However, having read some of the side effects I wish I hadn’t! I have permanent nerve damage to my left foot after shingles last year but am walking quite well now with a brace.

Low statin dose increased lipoprotein a significantly
I have elevated lipoprotein a [lp(a)] and elevated cholesterol levels, am 70 years old and have a coronary artery calcium [CAC] score of 0 (or did before I started
statins
a short while ago). I just learned about the lp(a) level around 18 months ago.

Just a follow up to my post last week
Cholesterol is another issue and of course wants me to go on
statins
which at this point I refused. If it wasn’t for the help on here I would of been lost and so confused thank you so much. I’ve started on a Vit B complex as well as my other Betteryou sprays so I’m hoping they help.

Cholesterol and CLL
I said I preferred to try to bring it down myself rather than with medication (and my intent here is not to start a debate on
statins
- I just prefer a natural approach when possible!)

Steroids, statins, strange query
I stopped taking the
statins
on the 20th Oct and am still suffering intermittent foot pain. Will the
statins
be out of my system by now? It’s so hard to unpick what is going on with multiple conditions.

Atorvastatin
Initially I took it at night as I’ve read that our bodies make cholesterol at night so taking
statins
at night makes them more effective. I’m pretty sure it gave me disturbing dreams so I’ve changed it to break time! My cholesterol has dropped to 4 now which is great.

Statins and muscle damage.
can someone furnish me with some evidence eg studies or scientific paper which shows conclusively that
statins
cause muscle damage, particularly in thyroid sufferers.

Different truth about Statins
If you are on
Statins
, especially in terms of so called "primary prevention" you should read this and preferably also some of the sources and then make an educated decision. LINK REMOVED By the way the absolute results/benefits in secondary prevention are not much better.

Feeling a bit frightened
I was on an introductory dose of
statins
, and now my GP is doubling the dose. I know this sounds silly, but I'm feeling very fragile today. Heart disease does run in my family and they are saying I possibly have "familial hypercholesterolemia" (fancy word for genetics).

Is this a long wait to see a cardiologist, or is it normal?
I had an MI while abroad in December, I had to have CPR, I had a stent put in and spent 4 days in a foreign hospital ( it was very nice and my treatment was excellent) and I am now on what appears from this forum to be a pretty standard cocktail of thinners,
statins
, beta blockers, etc .
