Healthy Diet? It is neither Low Carbs nor Low Fats- Both could be equally Bad or equally Good...
Very recently, I came across a couple of very thought provoking articles.. As per the studies, which seem to have originated from USA, one needs to be careful while choosing the quality of the Macronutrients one eats namely Carbs, Fats and protein..... The all cause mortality is linked to an un-healthy

Diverticular Disease
I’m at a bit of a loss and having a chuckle at the same time. I had a couple of dramatic gastric episodes winding up in hospital. I recently had a CT scan to check out nasties and got the result yesterday. I was told I had extensive diverticular disease and perhaps this was responsible for the gastric

Scared of taking prednisolone
I’ve never taken steriods before and I’m terrified of taking them (had bad reaction to tablets once and it’s scared me) Asthma is normally controlled and only causes problems with triggers or colds etc. Started with a cold 7 days ago and it gave me a bad cough and wheezing. Peak flow was down from 500

A little disappointed...
I saw my Rheumy on 11/25 and he was satisfied with my progress, just wanted me to try to stay within the tapering “guidelines” of not being on a specific dose >30 days, in other words cut DL’s simple taper by 1 week by making adjustments. I said I’d my best (meaning I’m not changing a darn thing) and

Peak flow averages question.
Saw nurse this morning who told me she doesn't think I have asthma because although the preventer inhaler I was given has made my peak flows go up I get symptoms when my peak flow is above the average for my age height weight etc (450) and I don't feel I'm my normal self until I'm like 470-500. See

LCHF and clogged arteries
Good morning everyone. I think I may take the prize for longest member who hasn't said a word 😳. I can't remember exactly when I joined up but I check in every day and am in awe of everyone's progress but I have never joined in (ridiculously shy). Over the last year or two I've managed to eat myself

A tale of four hormones
I am gradually getting my head around how and why LCHF works. It’s not enough for me to be told a diet has worked for loads of people, I need my brain to be involved & understand why I have to give up buckwheat pancakes & rye toast. So. Halle Berry does Keto and looks amazing. Bully for her in my view

Just had an episode of Acute Renal Failure and feeling quite distressed
Hello, all! I joined here recently. For the past 12 years, I have had cirrhosis that developed from Type 2 Diabetes and NASH (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis.) I also have a number of other health problems. I spent last week in the hospital with an episode of Acute Renal Failure. My physicians think

Dietary advice while on Predisnolene
Can anyone help with dietary advice to avoid weight gain, and hopefully lose weight. I was diagnosed with pmr in July, started on 15 mg now down to 10 & trying slow taper to 9. Low carb difficult as I can’t eat lots of fruit & veg. Any advice really appreciated

Newbie!!
Hello, I am new to the site. I have been low thyroid for over 20 years now. I initially welcomed my diagnosis because I hoped that I would be able to lose the weight that I had gained uncharacteristically for me once I had my thyroxine levels ok, but that didn't happen. I found ThyroidUK and tried

Lesson learnt
After 7 day course of prednisolone, rang asthma UK helpline for advice on day 7 as I wasn't completely better. Advised to contact my doctors late afternoon after 5pm and explain my situation. Requested for the duty doctor to ring me. I spoke to the doctor who went through my history and was advised to

What next?
Rheumatology apt. next week but have already decided I'm not going to have an infusion or any Bisphosphonates. I tried Risedronate and it gave me terrible side effects which I'm probably still suffering from. No more horrible drugs for me but I'm carrying on with the exercise, good diet, low carb and

Enterococcus faecalis and Carbidopa Levodopa - Some answers
With
K
citrate, you can start
slow
with only 1-3 pills a day. Monitor your blood pressure and watch out for hypotension. Some people take it to prevent kidney stones and it's a urinary alkalinizer. Potassium pills are limited to 99mg to avoid overdosing for susceptible people.
