(Probably) My last entry in the mayo off: Low Carb BLT
No mention of bread in BLT name.... ...nor mayo, but I am not leaving that off. Fresh lettuce leaves (baby gem in this case), cook bacon and then tomatoes in bacon fat. Assemble as shown with mayonnaise, roll up and eat..eat over a plate, it drips. But also it's delicious. After this entry, I am

Disappointed
Three weeks ago after discovering this site , I started on the lchf diet . I was elated when I quickly lost almost 2.3 kg . However weight loss has now skidded to a halt and to top it all I’m having trouble with constipation which is making me miserable . Anybody got any ideas ?

Keto/low carb?
Hi there! I’m brand new to PMR and prednisone and really want to keep my weight and blood sugars in check. I’ve gleaned from the forums that most people do this with a low carb type diet. To that end, I have joined dietdoctor.com as someone had suggested. They have what looks to be an easy 2 week keto

Is the chicken-off still going? Buffalo Wings....
I am just enjoying buffalo wings. That's fried or - in my case - baked chicken wings tossed in butter/chilli sauce, accompanied by a blue cheese dressing. Today, that is a Shropshire Stilton dressing 😋. With traditional celery and a tray of baked veggies, because if I am turning on the oven in this

The LCHF future
What with the world collapsing around our ears, maybe now is a good time to contemplate our post-apocalyptic future. It's become politically fashionable to talk about veganism as the new Heathy Diet; God forbid this should ever happen, because it'll precipitate another apocalypse (involving ecology,

Why do you love this community?
Hi there, I’ve been around this group for nearly 2 months. Have noticed at times it can be a bit confusing with contradictory advice and the “tension” between LCHF, calorie counters, and all the evangelists of different weight loss methods. My question is simply, what do you love about this community

Do you supposed to feel anything for CKD? And what are the symptoms?
Hello everyone I found out I have CKD in the last October with 1.48 creatinine, I met a very unhelpful doctor who just told me to have a low protein diet, and I didn't know what it was so I had to go online googled, then I found out CKD patients shouldn't eat high potassium, high phosphorus, high sodium

Low carb works -slowly but it’s a new way to eat -not a diet it’s a way of life
Hello I’m 9 years post transplant and have gained about 40 pounds after the rejection and second transplant. I’ve lost about twenty after understanding what function the kidney plays un bloating and weight gain. Read up on it to get a new prospective, if your kidney is only sub-working I’m still at stage

LCHF - is it my imagination or .....
Are ‘they’ are now gunning for poor Dr Unwin? I would have thought that anything that Improves the health of the nation by helping you to lose weight, reduce blood sugar and save the NHS a fortune should be praised to the heavens but nope- looks like Dr Unwin is going to become a victim of his own

Low carb cooking
SheffieldJane mentioned a low carb cookbook a few days ago and several people asked for more info. I can’t see a response so wondering if it got lost in the middle of everything else. Since starting on the pred I haven’t eaten any biscuit or cake although I do still eat other carbs (mainly whole grain

What is wrong with me? Losing the will to live!
Hi guys, Writing this as I’m having a really tough time of it lately and am getting to the end of my tether. I’ve had asthma all my life, and as a child and in my teens it was severe. My childhood was basically spent in and out of hospital. I’m now 28 and for the past 15 years have had what I’d say

I think my new antidepressant is making my asthma worse
I started taking escitalopram 5mg last Saturday to help treat anxiety. It has worked remarkably well so far. But I’ve noticed my chest becoming progressively worse this week, with my peak flow being at 375/350 and I can’t get it to budge. Normally it’s 400/410. I read that serotonin can cause bronchoconstriction

Strange Development
Good morning all, it's a lovely day on Englands south coast and the sun is shining. Getting to my question, I need advice please. Newly diagnosed in early May with PMR. Put on Pred 15mg all symptoms and pain disappeared the following day. Felt great and after 3 weeks tapered to 12.5mg. No issues. Further

Film - Fat Fiction - free on Amazon Prime
I couldn't find this posted on here before using the forum search facility. It's a great film that came out this year, all about low carb, reversing diabetes, and the origins of the lies we've been told about fat over the decades. It's full of doctors, professors, researchers, scientists and even nutritionists

Counting and Measuring
The dieticians love telling us to count this, measure that, eat certain portions of A, B and C, and drink X liters of water a day. The underlying assumption is this: your body is a useless, malfunctioning contraption that can't be trusted to feed itself. But this cannot possibly be true. If it were,

Cholesterol
Hi all I’m sure this has been asked before but as a newbie to LCHF I’m afraid I am going to ask. Will this plan not increase my cholesterol? Reason for q I have high cholesterol it is a family trait. After refusing for years at my last face to face with my dr I gave in and started taking statins. Mainly

Unsure about my thyroid
Hello, I am new to this group! My doctor has previously told me that I have a slightly underactive thyroid. This was about two years ago. She had me re-tested and told me that I was a bit borderline and didn't need medication. However it seems to be on my records that I have underactive thyroid, as a

What I wish I had known (and what I have learnt through trial and error!)
Hi everyone Another repost from a couple years ago (and bought it up 8 months ago too apparently) so apologies if you’ve already read it 😉😂. But it’s another thing that those new to asthma may find helpful, and if anyone has anything they want to add just tag in! (I think this is the last for a while

LCHF and constipation
I find that eggs milk full fat cream seems to constipate me. Does anyone on this diet have trouble with constipation. Also there is a good site to visit Gutsense.org
