I asked for sedation and that was jokes trust when I say I would have been better having a bar of chocolate it would have made me more relaxed... Headaches have been ruining my life honestly since I saw the Colo-Rectal surgeon things have been horrible!

Has anyone cancelled with general gynae and asked for referral to BSGE Centre?
I had a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
recently, as I have rectal bleeding, but this came back clear. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Has anyone actually opted to cancel their lap and seek more specialist help? Thanks x

Flexible Sigmoid and Post Lap Period Pain
I went for a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
yesterday as they wanted me to have one while I had my period to try and see where my cyclical rectal bleeding was coming from. They ended up needing to sedate me due to pain of trying to actually get to my sigmoid colon.

Test results....
Hi all, sorry for delay in replying and thanks for all your replies RE
Sigmoidoscopy
. Had the test as a result of bleeding and was all clear. Had polyp removed and all good and no further tests. Such a relief knowing I don't have to worry. ET is enough to contend with!😉👍

Struggling for help
Repeated visits to the doctor have found nothing through blood tests or a
sigmoidoscopy
. I have tried all sorts of other things including Aloe Vera, grapefruit seed extract, exclusion of alcohol, caffeine, wheat.

How I heal my IBS
Meanwhile, I had ultrasound scan test, blood & urine test, sonography test and finally
sigmoidoscopy
in October 2013. Results of all these tests were normal. From the
sigmoidoscopy
test report doctor said that I am suffering from IBS.

IBS Linked With Anxiety?
I've been through the whole testing process via the NHS (flexible
sigmoidoscopy
, colonoscopy, MRI scans, gastroscopy, blood tests, stool samples etc) and everything has come back absolutely fine. The doctors have since diagnosed IBS.

Wrong end?
I have recently (3wks ago) had a
sigmoidoscopy
and thankfully know that the endo has not penetrated through the colon. But this pain seems to be catching me off guard more frequently now. Heat and pain relief is not helping much but im trying to behave as best as I can!

Is it endo or not
Ive already had a colonoscopy and
sigmoidoscopy
so I know its not inside my bowel, I have also cut out all wheat and gluten foods but find I get the pain more when sitting down. If I lie down its a lot easier. My gastroenterologist thinks its endo and my gynaecologist thinks its something-else.

Sigmoidoscopy advice
Ive just been referred by gynae doctor to bowel specialist for a
sigmoidoscopy
, is it likely for endo to be seen on one of these as already had a colonoscopy and nothing showed up and wondered what the difference is.

Is it worth asking for pain relief/sedation for sigmoidoscopy?
Hi, I am having a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
next week and wonder if anyone has experiences of this to share? I am particularly wondering whether to ask for painkillers and/or sedation for the procedure?

He did agree to refer me for a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
just for peace of mind, but it's now just back to the dr to see what tablets to try next!

Hospital for over a week-no answers.
I also had a flexible
sigmoidoscopy
yesterday (the two jugs of laxative I had to drink as prep was hell!! But the examination itself wasn't too bad) which came back normal; they took 7 biopsies but I have to wait 2 weeks for the result- but I'm sure they'll come back normal.
