Also if I move areas in between waiting do I have to have a new consultation before awaiting a new referral for a sigmoidoscopy or will it be sent as the sigmoidoscopy referral straight away without the need for another consultation ?

Due a flexible sigmoidoscopy on November 1st 🙁Nervous above and beyond Am opting for no sedation or pain relief and hoping all goes nice and quick and well 🙏 Also praying to get some answers as have been unable to eat normally now for two years and if I do try to eat any gluten,dairy,soya or vegetables

No Doctor has ever diagnosed IBS but after a Sigmoidoscopy 3 years ago it was confirmed that it was severe Diverticulitis I was suffering from and no mention of IBS.

Anyway I am booked for a sigmoidoscopy in October and will be given Picolax just wondering how others were with it as gastro has said it's very mild but I have never had it before and getting very nervous about it plus nervous about the sigmoidoscopy as first time and I'm not having sedation either so

Due sigmoidoscopy on Friday morning but just had recent calprotectin back 🙂For a year it stayed at 1800 but now in the space of three months it has dropped down to 610 magically by itself as I have no answers to what has created all this yet 😞 that I hope to find out on Friday 🙂 but I'm just wondering

I had a colonoscopy April 2023 and a sigmoidoscopy November 2023. Both clear so I was diagnosed with IBS-c. Currently I’m very constipated but haven’t passed stool only mucus . Yesterday I passed a lot of pink mucus like in photo . Some had more blood on it .

Also so so nervous about the sigmoidoscopy pain so any advice will be so appreciated. Thank you all in advance and stay well and strong.🙂

The department have no other options - on Sat having flexible sigmoidoscopy and gastroscope - that’s ok , enema, no diet and sedation - shall I risk messing myself up with this on Thursday - or call the colonography off - really anxious, if I have no fibre and take laxative I’m back to potential blockage

Hi Had a sigmoidoscopy on Saturday, which I had under sedation, I found it a bit uncomfortable. Diverticulosis found, which I already knew about from a colonoscopy a few years ago. Biopsies taken. Yesterday bowel felt fine, however today I am in quite a bit of lower bowel pain.

I want to ask doctor for stool tests to check for infections or parasites as last time nothing showed just high calprotectin but I am constantly worry daily over it being a IBD now that is has returned not sure if a sigmoidoscopy would help or as the CT scan was all clear is it worth putting myself

Pain also left side of belly button starts here then get the groin pain a few days later like a horrid stitch Makes me feel really anxious , I have had BT/ FIT test/ sigmoidoscopy all ok. Currently having the worst attack. thanks Alice

Yesterday had an attempted flexible sigmoidoscopy mid period, saw bruising internal, endo, sigmoid colon so swollen couldn’t get the scope through.

I’m due to have a colonoscopy on the 16th which I am not looking forward to as when I had a sigmoidoscopy years ago I was in considerable pain when they used the air. I believe my bowel prep is going to be Picolax any tips on getting it down?

hi everyone, I apologise for being TMI with this, I have had blood in my stool (visible blood) on and off since 2018, I originally had a sigmoidoscopy back then to try and find the root cause but the doctors found nothing and said it could be internal Hemorrhoids but left it there I was recently

It’s now May 2024 and I’ve had a total of two colonoscopies and one sigmoidoscopy since 2020 and they have found the following: hypertrophic anal papillae(basically a benign fibrous polyp that many gi doctors regard as a skin tag), internal hemorrhoids and one external friable hemorrhoid, small divericula

Had a colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy, all clear. Still have diarrhoea, does anyone else have this problem or advice on how to deal with it.

I go for my follow up sigmoidoscopy on Tuesday to check for regrowth of my precancerous polyp that was removed 6 months ago. What are the chances that these regrow in the same spot and if so, could they already have turned to cancer if they grow back within 6 months?

sample that has visible bleeding has been used, which in my case makes alot of sense because my inflammation level was <30, the cause of the bleeding was a haemorrhoid who decided it wanted to pop😂 and this happens usually every 3/5 years, which again makes sense because it was 2018 I was in for a sigmoidoscopy

Although it was mentioned there has never been a follow up regarding getting a sigmoidoscopy to check what damage if any with the adhesion with the usterus. As you can imagine this was not acceptable and I told them I was not prepared to live the rest of my life in pain or without a sex life.
