Hello Everyone, I haven’t been here for years and I need some advice please. My hubby started having strange symptoms over ten years ago and it was discovered that he had low vitamin b12, despite eating meat. His GP said he likely had Pernicious Anaemia and gave him a loading dose of injections and

Hi,I wondered if anyone could advise on what care we should be getting for familial polycythemia? my 2 children (age 24 & 27) and I were tested at Guys a few years ago for the Jak2 gene, it was negative & we were discharged. Our blood tests always show a red cell count around 5.6, Haemoglobin 160

Bone profile?
Hi, could anyone tell me what the doctor means by bone profile? Recently had tests for B12 deficiency, got a telephone call a few days later asking me to come back in for them to do more tests. Said my bone profile was low, and mentioned something about potentially low vitamin d. Apparently my b12 is

Lactate/lactic acid in CLL
Has anybody heard of lactate/lactic acid in CLL? Thinking about Wimco’s "Pain in the body" makes me wonder if there is anything to the possibility of lactic acid causing some of the aches and pains many have. That is if CLL causes lactic acid. Just a thought.

Besremi side effects?
Hello community, After getting the prescription for Besremi, my husband is now tentative about starting the medication as he has be told by both the hematologist and the Specialty pharmacy that the side effects are pretty extreme. I know that side effects are a “potential” - but the most worrisome

B12 deficiency
I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency. I'm recovering from covid it's been 3 weeks. Not sure if the covid knocked my B12 down. I had first injection today. I woke up out of my sleep my body burning and dry month. I had that feeling first week of covid it went away. Now I'm not sure if the B12 is fighting

Magnesium
Could someone explain to me please, why magnesium supplementation is recommended? I read somewhere that testing for magnesium deficiency is both unreliable and uncommon. So how do we know we need it and if so, how much? Thanks.

Is this classed as low folate?
I'm a little confused about my blood test results. I'm not sure if I am posting in the right group! MCH and MCHC were slightly high which can indicate macrolytic anaemia. GP said I don't have that because my B12 and folate levels are fine (which are the usual causes). However, I posted the results

Thought about Intrinsic factor
Okay, so I've been thinking a lot about this, but if you no longer have intrinsic factor why would your body continue to make antibodies to intrinsic factor. I'm wondering about this as I keep getting tested by doctors for IF antibodies with no success, but I was told 15+ years ago when I was diagnosed

At What Level Is Low B12 Treated?
Hi! I recently had some blood tests and my B12 came back low at 180, normal range 197-771. My folate was 4.7, normal range 3.9-26.8. Full blood count and ferritin fine, I had iron deficiency anaemia and have been successful treated for that and all those levels looking good. My question is, at what

Low Folate

The results are in, over to the judges.
I am a 59 year old, 74Kg male, with no other comorbidities except mild lifelong well controlled Asthma. The tests on 10/01/2024 where all taken using the guidance given here, of no levy for 24 hours prior and no food/drink ETC before the test. The previous tests may not have been in full compliance

First blood test after starting Peg 17/12/2023
Hi, Blood test from 28/12/2023 Platelets down to 427 (previous 580, 560, 504). Elevated Potassium 5.4 and ALT 96. I guess Peg has elevated ALT?? My next FU is March 14th. I’m really hoping I don’t have to increase Peg which is currently 45 weekly.
