Hi, I have felt unwell for years was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2018. Recently took an interest in my blood tests that have been took over the years and my MCV And MCH have been high since 2016 at least (can't see anything past 2o16 on patient access). This has never concerned the Drs although I do see Macrocytosis without anemia in my notes. Looking for opinions or similar circumstances. Thanks

My MCV was above the range in 2015 and was not picked up even with an exclamation mark! It remained above range and last year was just within range. I've taken injected B12 for two years and I do think MCV is a possible marker for PA. As for your blood records, I suggest you ask your surgery for historical print outs and for a full print out every time rather relying on patient access. I couldn't get mine online.

Thanks for the reply x This morning I emailed my Drs and asked for copies of previous years that are not in patient access and have been told to do an E-Consult. Think it's best to just pop in there and see what they say.

As far as I know you can ask for copies of test results in paper medical records.

Might be best to do this in writing.

Hi Ab197

I am not a medic but I self treat my PA.

when my B12 was at its lowest and my PA symptoms at their worst, MCV was at its highest.

I self inject with Hydroxocobalamin and supplement to achieve optimal levels and my MCV has dropped significantly (within 3-4 months) and has remained within normal range since.

I hope you find your solution to your symptoms.

My daughter was mis diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She was severely b12 deficient and had megobolastic anaemia.

Very low ferritin snd vit d snd folate.

She had several MRI scans of spine snd brain.

A lumbar puncture all before a simple b12

blood test!

Definitely get more tests.

Once given that diagnosis they tend tk stol looking and medicatd the pain.

At thd Go reception you csn request s oapwr copy of blood results.

Often having to fill out a form now.

Go with a letter .

I think I stated a SARS request
