Yay - Ran 1st Half Marathon!
Having gone too quickly from no running (but other exercise) to doing too much in March-Apr, I suffered from
shin
splints
made worse by my doing my first race -10k at beg of May.

Week 1 Day 1 - shin splints
I’ve tried running before and given up because of the
shin
splints
, but this time I’m determined. No idea what I’m doing but hoping someone here can help me out!

Shin splints
Hi, I’m starting out but I know whenever I run for as little as 100m I have
shin
splints
that take a day to go away. Is there any advice how to avoid it?

The mysteries of pace, my love of counting starlings and my growing suspicion that the two could be connected
I’d realised that I needed to add walking to my routine after finding that the occasional long walks were setting off

. For the moment, I’m enjoying the habit of taking this daily exercise in exactly the same place.

Kissed baby with a cold sore
Hi all, I have a cold sore in the corner of my lip, and accidentally kissed my 2-week old baby on the cheek last night when I got up to feed him, I was very sleepy and didn't control my actions well. I had a special plaster on the sore, and don't think the affected area actually touched my baby, but

How do I increase length of step
Hi have been running at snails pace with quite a small stride , as this enabled me to run for 30 mins without
shin
splints
. I would like to go increase my speed now. Should I increase my stride and run for shorter distances to adjust or carry on as I am until I am stronger ?

Weekly Chat July 12th – 18th: What have you learnt?
After that, it took around 3 months for the
shin
splints
to settle down. That’s how I learnt about the 10% rule (and about foam rollers). A fair amount of my running is on quiet, tree lined paths; it’s a nice area to run in.

Graduated
There have been some tough runs, I have pushed through
shin
splints
snow and hail but come through. I've lost over 2 stone while doing this running plan along with a change in diet and I am looking forward to continuing my training as I have a 10 mile run coming up in the latter part of the year.

Skin cancer
Because of the CLL information on skin cancer, I had a small biopsy taken from my lower lip today. I had a little sore, that did not heal, for months, it was not a cold sore. More of a dry area that would not go away.

Hyaluronic Acid and CLL
I have been using a Revitalift over the counter face serum that is 1.5% Hyaluronic Acid sold as a treatment for wrinkles and aging skin. I seem to remember somewhere that there is a tie to CLL. Does anyone have any info on this? TIA

Shin splints /calf pain - can I make my HM in 4 weeks?
Having read up and watched what seems like half the internet, I think I've had a tight soleus and resulting
shin
splints
(MTSS). I had 5 days off running completely, and have started hip/glute strengthening and foot exercises, calf stretches, and now that I can, some calf strengthening exercises.

‼ Skin cancers like this basal cell carcinoma aren’t always obvious, but need removing as soon as possible to avoid disfigurement.

Shin splints or just calf pain?
Is the pain of
shin
splints
actually felt on the shins, or does it involve the calves as well?

Graduated!
Well after just under 3 months and a few repeated early runs due to
shin
splints
I have graduated today and can run 3.4k in the 30 minutes. Some times it feels as though I am so slow but I have come so far since not being able to run for a minute!

Week 4 run 1 still have shin problems
But this time I think this is
shin
splints
. I’ve been having 4 days rest in between each run to give my leg plenty of time to heal but I’m still struggling. I cycle 125 miles a week for my commute to and from work and never have any leg problems.
