Scar revision surgery

What’s the best treatment for a lateral abdomen scar. I am thinking of having scar revision surgery for a lateral abdomen scar post emergency splenectomy. I’m told the scar is “pretty neat” but as a young Indian female. It is extremely difficult to overcome, give the transition dress shows the midriff. I’m told there are risks of infection and the risk of general aesthetic. More worrying for me is that the scar could potentially become wider and thicker. It will also take two years for the scar to settle. Is there any less invasive surgery e.g laser skin graft that could potentially help.

Hi Pinkpenguin11 and welcome to the Changing Faces Community. I understand from what you shared that you have a scar on your abdomen which you are finding difficult, particularly as when you are wearing traditional clothing it can be seen. This does sound hard for you.

I also see from your post that you would like to know what medical options you may have for reducing the appearance of your scar. We would recommend speaking to your GP about all medical enquiries as they would be in a better position to advise you of appropriate treatments specific to your situation. I hope you find this a friendly and supportive community and continue to connect and share with others on here.
