5 years ago I had serious life changing surgical complications. Totally compromised my life, long story. There is little chance of repairing the damage to my bowel - I have 3 stoma bags. The psychological effect has been awful. Iāve been diagnosed with PTSD following nearly dying at the hospital

Bronchiectasis and asthma
Hi everyone, I hope you enjoyed your Christmas though I know for many it is not a happy time. I had an appointment with my consultant just before Christmas and he confirmed that my FeNO score of 52 meant I had asthma as well. This must have been as a result of the virus which caused the chest infection

Parenting with severe asthma
Even if I have a healthy pregnancy however, I'm anxious about parenting with
severe
asthma
. When I have bad attacks I feel completely debilitated and can barely function.

Stoma? Iād advise you to wear abdominal support garments from the get go.
Hi all, Back in June 2019 I came out of surgery with a stoma, which I was not expecting. I was very careful to listen to and take the advice about abdominal surgery; no heavy lifting or even lifting a kettle half full etc. About a month and a half ago I noticed my abdomen was sticking out more than

Inhaled steroids may not work for half of asthma patients.
Inhaled corticosteroids have been the mainstay of treatment for persistent asthma for decades. A new trial suggests that for the ~50% of asthma patients with low sputum eosinophils, inhaled steroids are no better than placebo, and neither was tiotropium. Treatment with the inhaled glucocorticoid mometasone

Dupimulab (trade name Dupixent)
A friend with
severe
asthma
and eczema has recommended Dupimulab. He says it has improved both his asthma and his eczema. According to Wikipedia this drug is a monoclonal antibody. I have no idea what this means. I believe my friend has access to the drug through a trial.

Speaking exacerbates my asthma
Hi everyone, I've had an asthma flare up for the last two months and I'm struggling to manage my symptoms. Recently I've noticed that speaking for more than 5 minutes in conversation starts to exacerbate my symptoms. I'm sure those around me are relieved I am speaking less though ;) Has anyone else
