Cold weather/exercise advise please!
Hi everyone! I have eosinophilic asthma, not exercise induced asthma...BUT...this is my first winter exercising with asthma in the cold and with the dip in temperature I seem to have developed a cough which I think the cold air is triggering! One of those annoying coughs that comes on when you laugh

The "asthma" saga continues
So I've written before that I'm still waiting for a diagnosis. Under asthma nurse for tests which are ongoing. During a months trial of brown inhaler I caught a cold, or so I thought. Turns out it got much worse and was told it's bacterial pneumonia. Now I'm in limbo. There's speculation my "asthma

Never give up hope
A couple of years ago we as parents were devastated. We never knew the devastation endometriosis could cause. Albeit our daughter developed a 6cm endo tumour on her bowel and test for diagnosis perforated her bowel making matters worse causing sepsis. She was told by the surgeons they had never seen

Lung images of twins with asthma add to understanding of the disease.
Two lung imaging studies from Western University, including one performed in non-identical twin patients with life-long asthma, have shown that airway defects in the lungs of asthmatic patients are like thumbprints – they have a unique pattern and maintain that pattern over time. These studies deepen

In focus: stomas - stoma surgery
Hello In our previous post in this series, we gave an overview of what a stoma is and the different types of stoma. In this post, we’ll look at the surgery to create a stoma and what happens before and after it. As many of you will have experienced, it’s difficult for surgeons to know exactly what

Have all the symptoms of IBS but is it something else?
I have had what I would call a successful ileostomy since 1968 which cured 4 years of misery with ulcerative colitis. I could eat everything, just not ridiculous amounts of hard to-digest-fruits and veggies which have cause several painful blockages over the years (scar tissue or gluttony?) At ER I

Asthma symptom diary
Hello everyone (again)! I’ve decided to keep an asthma symptom diary but I’m not really sure how to go about it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or templates that I could use. It’s really just to get some ideas as to how to structure it and what exactly I should be making a note of. Thank

Asthma flare up?
Hi everyone ! I have eosinophilic asthma and was diagnosed in May’19, everything got under control but today I have a chesty cough and when I laugh I sound like a smoker! The question is....could this possibly be an asthma flare up? My peak flow is ok, has been better but I m not in my ‘action plan’

Question about GERD and asthma?
So I'm still not sure if I have asthma or not. But the basic of the story is after several infections etc I may or may not have asthma, see asthma nurse next week to go over peak flow. In the meantime while I am suffering yet another infection, one if the lovely ladies on my yard asked if doc had spoken

Life Style changes when asthma deteriorates
As some of you know I had a bad summer asthma wise that has improved a little now the weather has become cooler. I’ve accepted the fact that my asthma is now going to take a lot more management than I’ve become used to and attacks are now a definite possibility (although I’m doing everything in my power

asthma, bronchiectasis and eye drops
I have ocular hypertension (not glaucoma yet) and use eye drops to lower the pressure. I was unable to use beta blockers because of the asthma so was given latanoprost ( a prostaglandin). This was fine for about a year but then I noticed my asthma getting worse and after reading that latanoprost can

Asthma Novice at 32
Hi folks, so I was diagnosed with 'mild asthma' as a late teen. Got the little white inhaler and a few days if be fine. I then had it return 5 years ago at 27 when pregnant and got a blue inhaler. Can you tell I'm a proper novice? Figured I'd grown out of it as I've had no issues since... Until 3 weeks
