Do make sure you fully rinse your mouth out after using your Fostair. I keep mine near the sink now so it becomes habit to rinse. That should hopefully reduce chances of thrush etc.

Do you take an antihistamine? That may help with the itching. I have found Fexofenadine very useful for that.

I hope things settle soon for you.

Donā€™t you just know it! Guaranteed! Itā€™s like when you arrive at the clinic puffin and panting but because they are running late and you have sat there for over an hour not moving at all you are breathing like a 10 year old! šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø

Good luck and hope you get answers soon

Hi there!

1) ask for Beconase, a steroid nasal spray & take as directed. This should help your rhinitis. But don't stop when it clears as it may return.

2) Sudafed & similar decongestants start the cause inflamed sinuses if used more than 5 days. I got hooked on Otrovine after being prescribed it but Beconase sorted things out but it takes a whole, it's not instant.

3) Do you have nasal polyps? Not uncommon in asthmatics. This could be a sign of an aspirin intolerance. If so, could help moving to dry powder inhalers but you won't be able to use spacer. For some asthmatics wet inhalers can worsen their symptoms - it's not the meds but propelents.

4) try gargling after inhaler use, when home, on order to combat thrush. I use listerine.

5) finally, specialists are now prescribing a long term antibiotic, Azithromycin, for up to 4 to 6 months. This has proved very successful for asthmatics with difficult to control, phlegm producing asthma. I believe that Japan & Australasia pioneered this and it's quite a recent treatment in UK. But a specialist would have to run a series of tests to ensure its efficacy & safety for you.

Good luck!!

I have had years of experience with nasal polyps, rhinitis and asthma. Also severe allergic reaction to aspirin and all NSAIDā€™S! This is called Samterā€™s Triad. Might look it up to learn abou it. Here is what has helped after years of asthma and 3 sinus polyp removal surgeries. A continued steroid sinus spray, daily. I use a gentle sinus flush if necessary. For asthma and what has worked for me, albuterol inhaler daily and nebulizer as needed. A steroid inhaler daily. IF YOU GET THRUSH... I have found a wonderful remedy!! It is a Chinese herb I keep on hand at all times it is called The Red Door ( Dao Chi Wan ) it works amazingly well! Hope this helps you! Hang in there!!
