Desperate, Can You Help Me?
I was diagnosed 10 years ago after a blood clot in my carotid artery. While recovering I spent my time on the computer since I couldn’t do much else. I researched possible reasons why a healthy 44 yr old can have a blood clot. I discovered clotting disorders of many kinds, including APS. When I asked

How often do we need bone scans if we are taking Low Molecular Weight Heparin ?
Also have any of you had significant bone loss. I take the calcium tablets that have Ben subscribed. I haven't been to see my consultant in London for a couple of years mainly because of the cost. I will go later this year though. I could get gp to refer me for dexa scan before then if I should be

Any success stories out there? Newly diagnosed.
Hey everyone, my name is Catherine and I'm awaiting a haemotologist appointment for official diagnosis. Here's my story... I fell pregnant with identical twins a year ago and after a threatened miscarriage I made it through to 7 months and then lost my shared placenta twins suddenly. The obstetrician

Is it worth me asking for a trial of heparin?
I was diagnosed at the beginning of January and started on clopidogrel on the basis of bloods, miscarriages, headaches, memory loss etc at first the clopidogrel seemed to be helping the headaches (though nothing else), but they've now come back. It's not like they're transient things - they're v painful

Trying for another baby
I have a miscarriage at 21 weeks in 2009 and was diagnosed with APS. I then had a baby boy 12 weeks prematurely in Jan 2010 due to APS and high blood pressure. They did a CS. Anyway I want to know whether to try again..... I had Heparin injections daily and a 75g aspirin but he still had to be delivered

What to expect?
Hi, I first posted here a couple of months ago and have been mainly lurking since. I'm currently waiting to see if I am to be diagnosed with APS. I've had two very high titre positive results for IGg antibodies as well as a myriad of symptoms and my GP thinks it's a possibility. I was seen by a prof

Do I need more than aspirin for flight to Cyprus? Advice greatly received
After 3 miscarriages I was diagnosed with sticky blood and put on 75mg aspirin daily. I'm unsure if a 4.5 hour flight to Cyprus will require me to take more than just my usual daily aspirin. I know long haul US etc requires heparin, but Cyprus isn't just a 2 hour flight to Europe but isn't long haul

GP who does not agree with Prof Hughes.
My DS has seen the Prof and has weak positive test. Severe almost daily Migraine and extreme fatigue the biggest concern. The Prof wants a 2 week trial of heparin as plavix has not helped. GP does not understand APS and as the prof has not written that he is sure it is APS then GP is worried. Says have

Graham Hughes' blog February 2013
February 2013 Recently, the Times of London featured a couple who had tragically lost a baby late in pregnancy. A 'stillbirth'. The Times railed against the unacceptably high rates of stillbirth in the UK and asked for more to be done to reduce its prevalence. Well...... a recent collaborative

Is 325mg Aspirin enough?
Hello everyone. I was diagnosed with APS last year and was put on 81mg Aspirin daily. About 2 months ago my doctor increased it to 325mg. I have aches and pains here and there almost daily. Mostly my upper body, chest, back, arms, mostly left arm, even my jaw. I get terrified that I may be having a heart

Would this suggest Lupus to you?
I am allergic to
Septrin
. She is in what I would now class as a flare. Anyone else this is virtually diagnostic? GP had to treat the allergy with steroids so I demanded a Rheumy referal for her which he did begrudgingly.

Could Heparin or Warfarin have caused my hypothyroidism?
20 years ago, I was treated for pulmonary emboli caused by the contraceptive pill Femodene, which had been prescribed for hormone regulation. I was put on Heparin straight away for a few days but I vaguely remember that it was stopped suddenly and I was then put on Warfarin and had to stay on it for
