Confused asthmatic
Hi, hope someone can offer some advice please. I am a life long asthmatic, quite severe, it has put me in hospital several times over the years. Anyway, it is, or was, well controlled with Seretide100 and Ventolin as a rescue med. In March I had C29, spent eight days in hospital on oxygen and developed

Every 6/8 weeks I feel like i'm coming down with a cold, it starts in my tummy and then travels around by body with aches, sore throat and sniffy nose, like a cold is there but wont come out.. is this part of a flare up?

Can lung cancer treatment lead to heart problems?
I had two adana carcinoma lessions removed from my right lung and had radiotherapy on my left one, last September and November respectively. I have recently been told I now have heart failure due to these procedures which has caused the enormous amount of water retention I have experienced. Has anyone

Better sleep: 30 wakers & stoppers
I was asked for my list of "20" things that wake me up at night. Or 30... ;-). I had to analyze them to be able to try to start working again... so here goes (this is a public post, so best start a new thread if you want to say something private): Like many, I have to sleep more (+1h = 9h) than before

No flu jab for me!
Went this morning to my pharmacy to get vaccinated against flu. I've never had a flu jab before and all my allergies were checked, taking up most of the space on the form but was stymied when it came to latex allergy. Pharmacist said he couldn't take the risk, - although NHS says it's negligible -

Should I have the flu jab ?
I have been on Pred since December 2019 and currently down to 2mg (dropped to 1.5mg but pain returned) Having gone back up to 2mg I’m experiencing neck shoulder pains/fatigue .... Waiting for advice on my dose as I think i need to increase dose but in the meantime I’m anxious about having flu jab ..

Covid test a child for every cough?!
Hi everyone, quick question if I may. My daughter (12) , like so many others, suffers with her asthma throughout the year but especially in the autumn & winter. Her first symptom is usually a cough, sometimes dry, someone's wet. She currently has a cold (classic runny nose) and a cough. My question is

Flu vaccination
I have been vaccinated against flue several times and always responded to it with flu or cold like symptoms. My husband, who has no Asthma felt very unwell for about 14 days after his vaccination. I now have not been vaccinated for a few years. I have read everything on this site about Asthma and vaccination

Pneumonia vaccination
Just wondering if anyone else has been advised NOT to have this vaccination? I have PRV, am 68, take hydroxyea and aspirin. I have no other health issues. A specialist nurse advised me not to have the vaccination and also said that I would have to stop taking the hydroxea for a few weeks if I decided

always worrying about my heart rate
ugh.. I was having a great day, sat down whilst my food was cooking, glanced over at my Fitbit and saw 58bpm and got spooked. it's usually never below 60bpm when I'm sat down. started to feel dizzy and panicky and scared myself into thinking my heart was gonna stop or something!! this is so frustrating

Any fibromites had side effects from flu jab?
Hi all. I have just had my flu jab, about the 5th year now, all well after the onset of fibro (10 yrs). This year I have had unpleasant side effects.. nausea, extra fatigue and muscle aches. I'm not allergic to eggs, which I gather can be an issue because they use hen's eggs to grow the vaccine. These

Untreated sleep apnea is associated with flu hospitalization.
As we approach flu season, adults with obstructive sleep apnea may want to take extra precautions. A study published online as an accepted paper in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine is the first to find that patients with sleep apnea who did not use CPAP therapy were more likely to be hospitalized

Dilated blood vessels in the lung may explain low oxygen levels in severe cases of COVID-19.
This vasodilation is contributing to the very low oxygen levels seen in COVID-19
respiratory
failure
and also helps explain why the disease behaves differently than classic acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Feeling like I’m inhaling smoke...
Hi all! I think I’ve come down with a cold/sinus infection but have recently found it harder to breathe. The only way I can describe the sensation is as if I’m stood close to someone that’s smoking and I’m inhaling all of the smoke. My chest is so very sore and itchy which makes me cough to try and clear
