always worrying about my heart rate

ugh.. I was having a great day, sat down whilst my food was cooking, glanced over at my Fitbit and saw 58bpm and got spooked. it's usually never below 60bpm when I'm sat down. started to feel dizzy and panicky and scared myself into thinking my heart was gonna stop or something!! this is so frustrating.

I just had a chest x-ray done 2 months ago to check my heart (I was having chest pains but ended up being diagnosed with GERD) and everything came back totally normal but I can't stop worrying!

I know that 58bpm is hardly slow by any means compared to others but it always scares me. heart failure is a big fear of mine considering I'm bigger and not too active since I lost my job a couple months back. anyone else have the same worries?? my doctor is getting tired of me writing in saying I'm worried xx

quixotic6, Get rid of the fitbit for a while...it's a trigger x

Long before the fitbit, I had a Cascio watch which was the newest gizmo

on the market at that time. It took pulse, h/r as well as ran an EKG strip

The doctors were fascinated by it, always a conversation piece.

It allowed me to focus on my heart 24/7. It's ironic that the day it broke

was the day I started getting better. I didn't need a reminder in what my heart

was doing. My autonomic nervous system was taking care of things very nicely.

I'm sorry that today's modern technology keeps allowing us to focus more and more

on our health and bodily functions. Maybe give yourself a break for a while. :) xx

you're absolutely right.. the fact that I was having a good day until I checked the Fitbit tells me all I need to know! I just keep going back to it, wondering what my HR is. I know it's not good for me to constantly worry about it. I should leave it up to my body and only worry if I feel unwell. I know my heart is stronger than I give it credit for but anxiety is an awful trickster!!

Anxiety is a trickster as well as a liar ..

It makes us believe in things being catastrophic when they're not.

Anxiety gets it's joy and power when we react to the thoughts it sends us. :) xx
