Itchy skin
Hi I haven't been on here for a long time, mainly because I have had a skin problem for the last year which has driven me over the edge! I have thyroid, Rheumatoid arthritis, and was diagnosed with NP which is Nodular Prurigo. Most of my body was itching so bad that when I scratched, it starts the cycle

Itching and me
For some of us this seems to be a difficult problem to deal with and I am hoping someone may have the same experience and can help with my question. In the late nineties I had severe itching which the GP put down to possible depression, SAD or even empty nest syndrome - difficult when I had no children

Extreme chronic pain
Hi All, I've been on here quite a lot ,but not lately. Just a bit about me,because it would take to long for the whole story. I started with this"IBS" about 12-13years ago,and it just gradually got worse,I had my gall bladder removed and it has generally got worse. I'll just use the words my GP used

Alternative Therapy - Canadian residents - Nature of Things broadcast
If anyone is able to pick up CBC programs Nature of Things tomorrow night is, among other things, discussing Bioflex light therapy. I've been getting this to help with inflammation, although I think the show tomorrow night may be focussing more on neurology. http://www.cbc.ca/natureofthings/ "The Brain's

Alternative therapy the continuing story
Not wishing to retell the whole saga I refer interested people to my other posts on alternative therapy where you will find descriptions of low intensity light therapy. Over the late summer I reduced my visits to the physiotherapist for my light therapy session to once a fortnight. At the beginning

Tips for winter depression?
I struggle with winter depression and am trying to get ahead of it this year... searching for any ideas which may help? I am intending to try to get out regularly and do exercise/get fresh air... keep to a routine... but I know from previous experience that when it hits those are the last things I want

Bloatedness
Been taking Questran for almost two months now and it has worked a treat with my itch, I feel like a different person. Only downside is that I am now permanently bloated but I would rather that than the many sleepless nights. I don't want to take anymore medication as such, as figure I'm taking enough

Now really confused!
I am in the process of changing surgeries and whilst having the initial consultation with the GP to sort out prescriptions etc I asked about my itching and
Questran
and she has given me
Questran
Light
. No hassle just this is something quite a few people at the surgery need!

alternative therapy take 2, monthly update
For those who haven't read my other posts on alternative therapy please refer to my profile. This is just an update as I know a couple of people have been interested. I'm currently at 3 mg pred, and plan to stay here a few more days before starting a slow taper to 2.5. I've cut back the low intensity

Alternative therapy
In the interests of providing the reason for my use of low intensity light therapy I'm quoting extensively from the relevant chapter of The Brain's Way of Healing by Norman Doidge, M.D. New York; Penguin(Viking), 2015. Chapter 4, "Rewiring a brain with light". This book is worth reading in its entirety

BILE ACID MALL ABSORPTION
I have been prescribed COLESTYRAMINE (
QUESTRAN
LIGHT
) for Bile Acid Mall Absorption (BAM) but I am allergic to the ingredient: Aspartame as it gives me chronic migraines. There is another medication called COLESTIPOL but one of the side effects is headache/migraine.

Alternative treatment - approaching home stretch?
So this past month has been a bit up and down, but mostly up. I started going for light therapy once a week. At the same time I kept prodding away at getting my body to accept a dose of 3.5 mg. Suddenly it seemed about a week ago that I'd made a breakthrough so am now in dead slow taper to 3.5 from

Alternative therapy, the continuing story
If anyone wants background on this, please refer to my previous posts, available by clicking on my profile. For the past few weeks my visits to physiotherapist for low level light therapy have been cut back extremely. For a while we tried fortnightly treatments, but I began to feel simply quite unwell

Questran
Hello, I've been itching more since February when I think I had a virus, my asthma so kicked off and I'm more fatigued. Consultant this week put me on increased urso and also prescribed Questran for the itch. I'm just wondering if anyone else is on it? Do you find it helps?

Alternative therapy update
Wow, nearly three weeks since my last update! I've been receiving a light therapy treatment weekly, and seem to be doing well. ( http://bioflexlaser.com/ for those who want to know what I'm talking about). Going out of town for a week, so won't try cutting back to fortnightly visits until after I've
