Is creatine a bad idea?
Hi is it dodgy if I take creatine? I'm early stage one CLL. I've gone on a vegan low-carb diet and my numbers go down each month with it but I've lost some weight. I wonder if taking creatine to boost my muscles is a bad idea. Thank you!

Are Prednisolone steroids bad when you have Hashis ?
Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well. I’ve had a nasty cough and went doctors thinking I’d get antibiotics but he said it was a virus and because my asthma had gotten worse ( peak flow dropped a bit) I should take a short course of steroids (prednisolone 5 mg ..6 a day for 5 days). I read that they

LCHF and the menopause
Hi, I am in week 4 of LCHF and IF 16:8. I have lost 10lbs in total but when I researched this eating regime I didn’t consider any implications of doing this whilst going through the menopause. (Age 53) I certainly don’t feel bloated anymore but have intermittent bleeding that I didn’t have pre LCHF

Finally Fully Fat Adapted?!? 🤔
I've had a few ups and downs the past month or so and have been lurching between keto, low-carb, with intermittent bouts of a few days of carby consumption. Each time the scales have shot up wildly for a week, then straight back down. I don't worry about it too much, except it sets me back with weight

Daily Diary for Monday 25 th November 2019.
Hello to my fellow Daily Diaries I hope I find you well and you all had a good weekend. This is the last week of November which probably means you have already started preparing for Christmas. Now we need to plan our week out and decide what we are going to eat each day. I feel that writing it down

(LDN) Low Dose Naltrexone - Experience?
Hello, Does anyone here take LDN for inflammation? I have just been prescribed it by a private doctor and before I go and add yet another medication to the list of daily pills I pop, I thought I would ask all you wonderful people about your own experiences. Has anyone found that it has helped them?

How should you break your fast?
There are about as many different strategies for breaking a fast as there are for fasting. Carbohydrate spikes blood glucose, which spikes insulin, which rapidly brings down your blood glucose - making you hungry. I do not need to be on a keto or very low carb diet, and my regular daily carb breakfast

Being pre-diabetic but hoping to reverse this (all markers going the right way) I have browsed a number of diabetic forums. Heart disease seems particularly prelevant amongst diabetics which is something I am trying to avoid and why I joined this forum although obviously there are numerous other factors

When is the best time for peak flow measurement?
I think I’ve asked this question before but I would be grateful for clarification. I usually take a peak flow reading before my combo inhaler and about 1 hour after. Last night I was at 76% which increased to 89% post combo inhaler (no other meds taken). Which reading is the best one to judge how well

Newly published interview with the lovely NHS GP Dr David Unwin. They discuss how and why he started treating his patients with low carb, plus some of the other health benefits he has discovered along the way over the past 7 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QizJhk4DaUY I appreciate it’s not directly

In need of help!
My mother has Chronic Kidney Disease. Her kidneys only have 30% function due to damage from a medication she was put on. Now, she has to go on a low-carb low potassium diet, and we have no access to a dietitian since we're in a rural area! Her new kidney specialist has basically told her to do this without

Ketogenic diet helps tame flu virus.
A high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet like the Keto regimen has its fans, but influenza apparently isn’t one of them. Mice fed a ketogenic diet were better able to combat the flu virus than mice fed food high in carbohydrates, according to a new Yale University study published Nov. 15 in the journal Science

LCHF, Keto... Intermittent Fasting seem to do some of us good - BUT, what about our immune system?
A lowered immune system can afflict many of us with hypothyroidism, adrenal issues, CFS/ME... stuff that many of us have accumulated over the years. How about this re influenza? https://medicalxpress.com/news/2019-11-ketogenic-diet-flu-virus.html?fbclid=IwAR1geNIfF_VU4Tl_f9Sc5Aj9c1hC7S-YlzUK_mMYfDFMBg-Fq6xSEMDfGrA

Science shows meat causes insulin spikes
I would be interested in low-carbers take on the science presented here which shows how paleo and low carb diets cause insulin spikes by as much as just sugar, far more than carbohydrates. Please don't just criticise Dr Greger - I am talking about the science here, not the messenger. Also I don't want
