FBS higher after morning walk !!
As a new experiment I checked FBS before and after a 5 KM morning walk. Surprisingly, before walk it was 125 and after it was 145. Googling says it happens as liver produces more glucose on exercising but enough insulin is not produced by my body. Thus the enhanced reading. What to do ??

Dinner time and its impact on Fasting Blood Sugar
My dinner got delayed by an hour for the last two days. Surprisingly, my FBS has come down by at least 10 to 20 points. These are my readings. Last Friday Night Dinner(Emmer wheat chapati of 80-90g approx.) at 9.30 PM. Spike at 10.50 PM was at 166 mg/dL. The next day FBS at 8 AM was 89 mg/dL. Yesterday

Plant Sterols for managing cholesterol
Does anyone take Plant Sterols to help keep their cholesterol low? Do they affect your INR's ? Do they work? My last cholesterol reading was slightly over 5, and I left GP surgery with a prescription for Statins (Atorvastin). I have read the possible side effects (and the packet has remained untouched

Insulin resistance (IR)
HOMA-IR: Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance. It marks both the presence and extent of insulin resistance that you might currently express. It is a terrific way to reveal the dynamic between your baseline (fasting) blood sugar and the response hormone insulin. HOMA-IR = (Glucose x Insulin

A diabetes study recommending treatment based on clinical features published in The Lancet
Although not a thyroid article diabetes is related to thyroid matters so it is interesting to me that another group of endocrinologists are being encouraged to look at signs and symptoms of a disease. What a difference a year makes !
I posted the following in the 'Bridge to 10k' forum a few days ago and it has been suggested that Couch to 5k members might also find it interesting and hopefully supportive to your running journeys: I recently passed the anniversary of my starting c25k. So what's happened during that year? Well Runkeeper

Diabetes
I realise this is the weight-loss forum, but diabetes and obesity are inextricably linked, and we seem to have had quite a few posts on the subject lately. I was unable to respond to lucigret's tag on a closed thread, so herewith a few thoughts on the subject. 1) Back when my mum was a ward sister,

"Algae Cal and Strontiuml"
Algae Cal Plus and Strontium. Does anybody have any experience of these supplements? They claim to improve bone density. They are very expensive.....but their claims to improve bone density seem somewhat plausible. And they are heavily marketed once you show any interest on Facebbok ad......keeps repeating

How strict are you on low-carbs?
I’m trying to bring my A1c back to 5.6. My last test in April showed 5.7. It had always been 5.6 since diagnosed with PMR/GCA in January 2019. I Started on 40 mg of pred, now at 10. I had gotten somewhat off track after Christmas. I’ve read that 40- 50 grams of carbs a day is considered low
