Pre-diabetes

My Mean corpuscular volume (MCV): 110 fL Reference range: 84 to 98 Mean corpusc. haemoglobin(MCH): 34.8 pg Reference range 27.5 to 32.0 And my Platelet count: 448 10*9/L (a little higher that normal) Has anyone else had this happen, is there a link between ET and pre- diabetes?

I have been diagnosed with steroid induced pre diabetes. I read somewhere that a chromium supplement can help? Anyone else tried ? I’ve been taking pred since January, currently on 6.25mg

Useful for those who've been told they are in the pre-diabetes or even diabetes range or worried about weight gain and/or raised blood sugar levels due to steroids.

Is this diabetes or pre-diabetes? I would be prepared to do a strictly no added sugar diet to try to reduce this to a manageable level. I didn’t start the metformin because I had an upset stomach and now I want to find out more before inflicting yet another medication to my extensive list.

so today after eating I got a reading of 145 on my glucose monitor, the reason why I tested is because I wasn't feeling well and I started to sweat. I checked around 30min to 45 minutes after eating. I feel really unwell and I am questioning if it is prediabetes. Any info you can help me with ? thanks

My GP recommended I reduce carbs and sugars( basically a low carb diet) due to my A1C hovering in the "pre-diabetes" range. I've gone back to taking a multi- vitamin for women over 50 since I feel I'm really falling short. I know the general consensus here is that vitamins are iffy at best.

I have just realised ,when I was a lot thinner Axiban made me tired but my pre diabetes went away now I am fatter I don’t get tired though pre diabetes will be back

What are these diabetes numbers please anyone , normal = 42 - 47 and pre- diabetes = 48

I've put on weight over the past ten years, and have been diagnosed with pre-diabetes. I'm also concerned about long-term damage. I'm going to halve my dosage from tomorrow, and speak to the pharmacist at my doctors' surgery about coming off it altogether.

Only abnormality was fasting glucose at pre-diabetes level. Blood sugar has always been low. Diabetes in my family so I am very careful. I am probably 10 lbs overweight, not a lot ( 5' 3" size 8). Could this be related to PBC? Any thoughts? Super aggravated

During the last year, I started treatment for high blood pressure, high cholesterol (but stopped because of side effects) and was warned about pre-diabetes. Is it possible that taking thyroid treatment will help with these other issues?

hi have been diagnosed as pre diabetes 2 at 48 my gp has prescribed atorvaststin . I have to take it for the next 8 weeks and also be careful with my diet . However I am now confused as I have read a common side effects of the statin can be raised blood sugar levels .

Had an NStemi and stent fitted in Oct last year. Obviously a shock and have been following all advice, did cardiac rehab and going on daily walks and gym twice a week. I asked GP surgery for cholesterol blood test to see if it had gone down further and particularly if bad cholesterol had gone down. However

He then look at my latest bloods and said he was somewhat perplexed at the low levels of inflammatory markers present and said that overall the bloods were pretty normal apart from evidence of pre diabetes.

Glucose show okay but I know pre diabetes doesn’t usually show on tests. I’m concerned about it. Over the internet acanthosis is more obvious with lines and streaks over the neck and it’s usually darker but I’ve yellow discoloration.

I have just had a cholesterol test with a reading of 6.5. The Doctor hasn't contacted me about it , but I eat a very healthy, low fat diet. Can Pred & a lot of worry/stress ( which i have in bucketfulls at the moment) affect our cholesterol readings?
