Emotional response to an ICD
I had a
pacemaker
fitted this time last year and have just had it "upgraded" to an ICD. This was in response to an instance of ventricular tachycardia that showed up in a regular
pacemaker
clinic check.

Permanent AF--is it worse than intermittent?
Although I have a
pacemaker
the only symptom I have is breathlessness if I exert myself. Many posts I've read here have said after ablation their AF has gone completely so I'm a bit envious.

Ablation tomorrow!
I will also have to have a
pacemaker
at some stage in the future. That's for a seperate issue. Hoping too get the AF under control first.

Said i needed a heart scan to decide which
pacemaker
i needed. Said he would get it done by the weekend for me. This afternoon came and took me on the bed at 15-30. Had my scan then went straight into theatre to fit my
pacemaker
. By 6 o clock was back on the ward walking around.

DVT, PE, and EKOS
He also implanted a cardiac
pacemaker
in me to compensate when my rate gets too slow. That worked just fine until 4 months ago when I unknowingly developed DVT, with one clot breaking loose and going through my heart, lodging in my lungs, as a "saddle embolism".

How to get how fit for what?
When I joined this forum I had been disabled for about half a decade, but losing weight and getting my heart and
pacemaker
fixed let me start walking - and I have been walking 30 or 40 km a week, and doing a little body-weight exercise.

When is ablation necessary
My current (for the last 3 years) highly rated Cardiologist hasn't said so, but I believe he thinks I should never have had a
pacemaker
put in. He only wants to see me yearly.

Life after death. My own experience.
About a month before Columbus Day in October, he came over one night (I had my own apt. since I was 18, he still lived at home with his younger sister and father who had a
pacemaker
, so he was on disability and was at home during the day. They owned a home in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.

I am a heart patient, in heart failure (with an artificial mitral valve,
pacemaker
and defibrillator). Diagnosed with heart problem when I was 22. Survived two open heart surgeries. On a ton of heart meds for years.

Prostate cancer worry-2
It’s unfortunate that I would have preferred an MRI by the
pacemaker
rules that out easily.
