Hi all

I have suspected Heart failure along with SVT, AF, sinus pauses and heart block and a pacemaker

Echo being done in 3 weeks to see if HF have BNP of 1260, bad breathlessness, extreme fatigue and feet swelling. Anyway I have been sleeping with 2 high pillows and end of bed raised for about 4 weeks, but, I have bulging discs in my neck which gives me awful headaches. Since raising the amount of pillows from 1 to 2 my headaches are more or less constant I wake up with a headache which are very debilitating especially as I work and it’s getting me down and I don’t know what to do, I have tried to go back to 1 pillow but my breathing is not good with one and sleep is near impossible

Any ideas?

Thank you

They do make a wedge pillow that raises the head of the bed a bit. Then Mayb you would only have to use one pillow.

I put it under the mattress so the mattress was raised.

From time to time I use a memory foam pillow which is shaped to have a dent for your head and support for your neck. Lucky to get it in a charity shop. Agree pillows under the mattress help too.

I'm with Dolphin - wedge pillow works a treat. I was using two of the plumpest pillows I could find and the strain on my neck and back was awful until someone suggested a wedge pillow. What a difference that thing has made - I can sleep on my back or my side and wake the next morning with no unwanted extra aches.

Also, if you can afford to really splash out, the motion beds (like a hospital bed but not as depressing to have in the bedroom) are amazing. My husband and I have friends with one in their guest room - no surprises there as to them being extremely popular hosts.

Raise top end of the bed rather than the pillows. I have herniated discs in my neck and get the same pain. When it's really bad I sleep in a soft collar available from pharmacies.

I have slept in a recliner for years. It helps breathing and I can even sleep on my side. I would never change!
