When I first had Hashi (nearly 23 years ago) I was hyperthyroid for a couple of years then stable for a while and then became hypo. While I was hyper I also had Hyperacusis which gradually wore off with time. However last summer I was in a very stressful situation for some months, beecame hyper again

Hi...My ear problems started just before Christmas. Went on Antibiotics for viral infection. My right ear, lots of crackles and some discharge, of wax after popping. Went to Audiologist as hearing affected, she referred me to GP as saw Blood over my eardrum. Doctor only saw wax, but referred me to ENT.waiting

Hearing loss after meningitis - ANSD?
With hearing loss being a common after effect of meningitis, I'm wondering if anyone has heard of this before, as our doctors are scratching their heads. My son, who is now four, had Pneumococcal Meningitis at 14months, and thankfully has come out with just some minor emotional/behavioural issues and

Has tinnitus changed you? If so, in what way?
Folks, I was reflecting on my four years of T and trying to remember what I used to be like. Clearly we all change as we get older but I have been thinking about the part that T played. Here is my plan if you want to join in. I will list a positive for every negative that I mention. Some are contradictory

Dizziness
Evening everyone! So I’m still new to fibro, diagnosed just before Christmas and waiting to see the fibro nurses. I was started on gabapentin a few years ago for my back and had no problems. Was taken off it in hospital (very long story involving a rare drug reaction and 3 of my organs failing!) and

Post Op Tinnitus
Hi all, Since the removal of my acoustic neuroma via surgery in 2008 I have been left with severe tinnitus even though I am now deaf on the left side. The noise is on the left side of my head and get's louder when I move my eyes to top left. So here I am looking for help or cure.

Sudden hearing loss and RA
Hi. Has anybody ever had SSNHL (sudden sensorineural hearing loss)? I woke up last week completely deaf in 1 ear. I got an emergency ENT appointment and had various hearing tests and given the above diagnosis. It is quite rare and the cause is often never found. If not caught early it can be permanent

How long did takes to get rid of those symptoms. I am having spells of those things once in every two-three days. Its been two months I have started the treatment. There is some pain in my left ear also. Do you advise me to go to ENT specialist or should I wait?

Good consultant for pulsatile tinnitus?
Hi can anyone recommend a private consultant in the UK (near London) to get me started on diagnosis and treatment for pulsatile tinnitus? I've had it for a few years and been through standard GPs and ENT, hearing test and MRI scan all showing a blank. I need someone who knows what they're doing, and

Ménières disease due to b12 and D deficiency?
Hi , Is it possible that our vitamin deficiency can trigger Ménière disease? I was just searching for symptoms online and they were kind of matching. Dizziness, vertigo kind of feeling , Tinnitus in one ear.

Deaf with tinnitus
My tinnitus was already at level 8/10 almost unbearable. My hearing aids with white noise helped a little and headphones listening to nature sounds like a babbling brook make it about bearable enough to read a book. Last week i developed a chronic infection in my left ear which has perforated my ear drum.I

Teva to Activis
Hi, I've been taking Teva Levothyroxine since diagnosed hypo for 3 years....no side effects. My pharmacist gave me Activis, Northstar which I have taken for 9 days. I noticed slight headaches throughout the days leading up to this morning when I woke up at 5.15am with a headache and feeling nauseous.
