Testing positive for covid
It was going to happen I have tested positive for covid. I have to say the response from NHS and government is confusing. After reporting my lateral flow test the NHS told me to isolate but the government guidelines say it’s not a legal requirement and my employer is following the government advice.

CDC reconsidering guidelines for opiate use. This affects RLS sufferers.
RLS.org is asking us to send comments to the Center for Disease Control about our use of opioids to treat our symptoms, as the CDC is reconsidering guidelines for their appropriate use and how they can be prescribed. Please don’t think this is only for Americans. ( See below.) My comment stated that

Tramadol Tolerance
I have had severe RLS for over 10 years, was initially on dopamine agonists (until I augmented!) and been on Tramadol (100mg/day) plus Gabapentin (1200mg/day) for over 8 years. My Ferritin level is usually about 75 so I am currently trying to raise it. I tried Bisglycinate for 3 months without any improvement

Running & restless legs
Hello, just wondering what people’s experience of jogging & RLS is? I have been running for about a year & a half. I am 60. Normal BMI. Don’t smoke or drink. I haven’t been running every day. Run about 2-5 km, so not too far. Thinking of upping it to run daily & buying a treadmill to facilitate this.

It finally got me…
So I’ve caught Covid - from my 21 year old daughter (student nurse). Currently waiting for a call back from the GP about antivirals. It’s 24 hours nearly since I reported a positive test and I haven’t heard anything about antiviral treatment yet. Has anyone had any experience with getting this successfully

Hi everyone So I’ve just finished with the zoladex injections. They were useless for me and gave me heavy periods. I’m up for trying anything. Pills patches creams drops. Anything I’ll give a go. Menopause did not stop the pain. ☹️. Crazy really as I first went to see a doctor for heavy periods in

Really bad DEXA scan result
Hi folks, I've not posted in a while but have used the time wisely - more about that later. You may remember I was being railroaded into a Zoledronic acid infusion without having a DEXA scan first-the GP insisted I'd need the infusion anyway after being on high dose Prednisolone for more than a year

Antiviral treatment
Following my recent post, I had a phone call yesterday morning from a doctor at our local hospital to assess my need for the treatment. Yes, I needed it but unfortunately the tablets were not suitable because of an existing medication so I needed the infusion. Unfortunately, they had no more appointments

[Fentanyl effects on glutamate and GABA release rates from anterior hypothalamus] and [Fentanyl inhibits GABAergic neurotransmission]
A week ago I had surgery under general anesthesia. I was given propofol and fentanyl. My neuromuscular function has worsened. I've had propofol before without problems. What happened this time? I suspect fentanyl inhibition of GABA progressed my ALS. The NMDA receptor and the gamma-aminobutyric acid

NHS letter re COVID antiviral treatments
Finally got an email today advising that I’ve been identified as having a condition (ET) that qualifies me for a priority PCR test and antiviral treatment in the event of a positive COVID test. Hard copy letter and test kit due to arrive by next week… Not quite sure why it’s taken so long when I was

From RLS foundation; call to action for opioid prescribing guidelines (CDC)
Call to Action that is due on Thursday, March 31. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is revising its 2016 Opioid Prescribing Guidelines, and this is an opportunity for the RLS community to raise our voices about the appropriate use of opioids in the management of severe cases of RLS

Natural relief for opioid constipation
Hi, like many of us I suffer with really bad constipation as the result of taking opioids. I take morphine and it successfully controls my RLS but the GI side effects are awful. Currently I am taking Laxido but would prefer to manage the constipation naturally long term if possible. I already have

Urgent help from someone who is located in the USA and being prescribed opioid
Hi, It would be nice for anyone who has been prescribed opioids by the USA doctors to provide their providers' name and location to help each other who is in need for opioids but has no access to find a doctor, especially in an emergent situation. We all have become a victim from this "war on drugs

NY Times article on how the opioid crisis affects people in chronic pain
All - FYI, here is a guest essay from today's New York Times talking about the problems that have been created by the rules restricting the prescription of opioids. I'm grateful that this point is at least getting some major press coverage. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/07/opinion/opioid-crisis-pain-victims.html

Hello everyone. After two years of careful precautions I finally got Covid ten days ago. Needless to say I was pretty worried and knew I needed to get one of the new antiviral treatments rapidly even though I’ve had three vaccinations. The system to get these did not go smoothly. Day one: The team
