Catherine's Journey to a Beautiful Smile in Costa Rica
I’d like to share the inspiring story of Catherine Brenner, a 61-year-old retired teacher from Bonita Springs, who recently transformed her smile with dental veneers in Costa Rica. 🦷✨ Facing prohibitively high dental costs in the US, where quotes ranged from $1,000 to $2,500 per tooth, Catherine started

Pacemaker and dental treatment
I am due to get a pacemaker fitted on 26 June, I also have a dental appointment on 27 June for treatment - root canal and crown. Is this going to be okay or will I have to delay the dental treatment? Any advice folks???

Methadone induced brain fog
Hello friends! I have been successfully using 10 mg of methadone for 18 months with no side effects. The past few months I have been experiencing brain fog. It is increasing in severity and frequency. My search to see if methadone or bupremorphine can cause this is enlightening. It definitely can

I’m still searching for a neuro who prescribes opioids in NY. In the meantime, Mayo Clinic published this video. Oxycontin for RLS?
does anyone here take OxyContin for RLS? According to the Mayo Clinic, it’s the primary opioid they prescribe if DAs lead to augmentation and Gabapentin and similar meds fail to work. https://youtu.be/daAyvu14ics?si=OIcd89hmaHpSUGaC

Massachusetts Opioid Register
I've just completed my 6 monthly survey for Dr John Winkelman's Massachusetts Opioid register. It is now in its 5th year and, so far, over 93.6% of the original 500 participants are still filling out the survey. My RLS score is confirmed at 0/40. No RLS symptoms at all in the past month. Hopefully, this

Dr Glen Z brooks NYC
I met with Glen a couple of weeks ago , he is now 76 and no longer taking in new RLS patients It has become increasingly difficult for him to prescribe Buprenorphine the biggest problem is he cannot find doctors who will continue to prescribe for Buprenorphine when he is no longer working. Which treatment after dopamine agonist withdrawal?
I'm currently fighting to withdraw from dopamine agonist (DA) after a severe augmentation. I was prescribed some other drugs to help me go through this process (tramadol, pregabaline, clonazepan, wellbrutin). My plan is to get back to my pre-DA RLS baseline level, and to treat them with pregabaline only

For those taking methadone, do you think it affects your sleep quality?
Having gotten rid of almost all (but not quite!) Mirapex nearly 2 years ago, my current meds are 0.125 mg Mirapx, 600 mg Horizant, and 10 mg methadone. Eventually I hope to taper the Mirapex to zero. I have a vulnerability to obstructive sleep apnea and once my specialist had transitioned me to increasing

I have tried everything ! After years on Pramipexol I augmented but was persuaded by a neurologist (against my better judgement) to try Ropinerol - guess what - augmentation. After weaning off it I was so looking forward to relief from Pregabalin - no relief just horrendous brain fog. Gabapentin - no

Buprenorphine update - one week in
Well, I’ve been taking Buprenorphine for a week now, and I can barely believe it. I have had zero RLS! My IRLSS has gone from the high 30s to 0. Absolutely no symptoms at all. I have spent my nights in bed like a normal person. The relief is unbelievable. On the first night I took one 0.2mg

Interesting update for those in the UK whose GP practice has Buprenorphine red listed
Finally, after months of hitting my head against a brick wall with my GP practice, where Buprenorphine is firmly red-listed (and the partners flatly refuse to change their stance, even after being presented with all the research we know about on this site), I have been able to obtain an NHS prescription

QoL: "Moonrise in a liminal place"
Liminal = occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold. In mythology, this refers to the meeting of this world and another. Regarding the painting, I came across a suggestion by the art Moira Huxley that an intriguing effect may be produced by putting a layer of charcoal over

Buprenorphine and constipation.
Can anyone tell me how constipating Buprenorphine is please? I’ve heard a lot about the nausea it causes but not that other side effect of all morphine drugs. Is it better or worse than other opioids? As it is supposed to be the best one for controlling RLS and my Neurologist is going to ask my GP to

Inflammation and RLS redux
I've both queried and written about the possible roles that inflammation plays in RLS, but wanted to share what I recently learned, which again indicates that the relationship between the two is complicated. I was recently on methyl prednisone for a few days to calm down post-surgery inflammation
