The Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme (SDCEP) has published a second edition of its dental clinical guidance ‘Management of Dental Patients Taking Anticoagulants or Antiplatelet Drugs’.

An updated patient information leaflet, ‘Anticoagulant or Antiplatelet Medication and Your Dental Treatment’ is also available for patients taking these drugs. This leaflet explains the importance of telling the dentist about the medication, and how dental treatment might be affected by the drugs. The patient information leaflet is freely available to download from the SDCEP website.

Our thanks to the SDCEP for engaging with patients with lived experience of anticoagulation therapy throughout the updating process.
