Anyone interested in tackling RLS with me in 2023?
New Year’s resolutions come and go but this next year I may have found a resolution that I have no choice but to stick to. If you can, please read this blog that was released on LinkedIn by the RLS Foundation. https://rlsfoundation.blogspot.com/2022/12/food-is-now-my-only-medicine.html?m=1 Much

Learning to live with PMR
My PMR started with strange stiffness, as if I'd been riding a horse, around the hips and buttocks in April/May 2022. I ignored it as far as possible, trying physio with no success. It was when I did the Dales Way in Yorkshire in June/July that I realised my fatigue, slowness and trouble getting over

Targin and nausea
I have been taking Targin 10/5 for 3 months and found it very effective. However I have also been experiencing nausea off and on and think it might be caused by Targin. Has anyone else found this? Are there other opioids that are less likely to cause nausea?

All regular use sublingual opioid medications etc how to protect your teeth.
REGULAR use of sublingual medications, from opioids to Valium etc I break mine into tiny pin head size pieces with a pill cutter. I know 200 mcg Temgesic or 2 mg of Buprenorphine looks very small, however I have followed this process for over 3 years now. - Reasons - Absorption in seconds - Better

Opioids, narcotics, benzos
Has anyone had issues recently with doctors in the USA (specifically Michigan) not wanting to prescribe opiods, narcotics, benzos. Had my pregabalin (narcotic) refilled and had to sign a ridiculous drug contract stating (and these are only a few) I would reframe from alcohol and cannabis. Cannot receive

Frustration with Pregabalin
My appointment with Prof. Walker at Queen Square for RLS is not until February next year, so moving to opioids is not an option until then. In the meantime, since around July (after having been on Ropinirole for 15 years), I moved to taking 300mg Pregabalin of an evening ... which I then have to top

Medical Anxiety through the roof
Have always had some degree of medical anxiety but nothing too debilitating. Last few years though as a result of some bad experiences (panic attack when sent for MRI, horrendous treatment in hospital when admitted following a bout of mild pancreatitis after having my gall bladder removed, difficult

NEURO LIFE NOW SURVEY UK
To raise awareness of the lack of medical training and the poor treatment of RLS in the UK, it would be very helpful if all UK RLS patients would complete this survey by Neuro Life Now. It's run by the Brain and Spine Foundation and they receive funding for research and treatment. Share it on other platforms

Vitamin D dosage
Thank you to all those who answered my question about taking a large dose of Vitamin D to avoid covid and other viruses during the winter. I have read them all very carefully and have decided to stick with the dose in my 2 Calcichew per day. I had Covid in August, felt ill, but not terrible for 2 days

Alternative/Natural therapies for RLS
For those who want to manage their RLS without medication, there are recent science articles on Paeoniae Alba, a plant used in traditional Chinese medicine. It seems interesting. I'm too far down the medication route but for those newly diagnosed or with milder RLS or those who do not want to take Alpha2Delta

Help from those taking Methadone
I need a shoulder replacement and is scheduled soon. I have been taking methadone to control my RLS. When I told my surgeon that I was taking methadone, he told me that he could not manage my pain. He said that anything that he gave me wouldn’t control my pain. He suggested to ask my neurologist or go

Insomnia from Temgesic - Drug Combination ?
I have tried most of the drugs available for RLS over the years- including different opioids. I have been taking .200mc Temgesic with 0.25 Zanax every night for over a year. This has been fairly successful- usually having one or two RLS episodes a night and some insomnia. I lie in bed with my heart

Attn US RLS Opioid patients
By now you have likely heard that new guidelines on prescribing opioids have been released. Unfortunately, RLS was not considered in the update. This change will fuel the RLS Foundation’s advocacy work to ensure a carve-out for RLS in the future. In the interim, please report any problems you face

Problems in U.S.A. Refilling Opioids/other controlled substances
All we RLS and PLMD’ers need is more stress right? I have 2 prescriptions for controlled substances. I use Walgreens Pharmacy. They’ve tightened up their policies re: opioids so much, it’s putting patients at risk. Last month, I submitted refill requests every day for 3 days prior (what I’ve always

Maybe now the cruelty can stop
The U.S. CDC, doctors and organizations who, directly or indirectly, inhumanely reduced and/or cut people off from opioids for pain or RLS now have a chance to redeem their cruel decisions based on new CDC guidelines (link below) released 11/03/22. It can be shown that the medical community’s response

Pregabalin + Ropinirole or Opioids
After a recent post from Amrob explaining that they add 0.125mg or 0.25mg Clonazepam to 300 mg Pregabalin when the Pregabalin does not cut ... I do the same with Ropinirole, adding 0.125mg nightly to 300 mg Pregabalin, because I will never get to sleep otherwise ..... I wonder what the thoughts are

New US CDC Guidance for prescribing Opioids ( finally )
This is the first update since 2016 when they started abruptly stopping peoples Opioids without care factor or tapering. The new guidelines explicitly advises against abrupt discontinuation or rapid reductions of opioids. That is based on sessions learned over the last few years as well as science
