Memory still an unresolved issue
I have an acquired BI. Having had epilepsy all my life, finally diagnosed in late 90s with Complex Partial Seizures, it could not be controlled by meds. Therefore, in 2003 I underwent an Amygdalohippocampectomy which has helped in so far that this with meds now helps control my epilepsy, though still

A fine how do you do... :(
After going for years of ibs with diarrhea... it seems as if my body said: "Ok, let's now switch to constipation" ... I actually feel WORSE with the constipation... Glycerine suppositories do nothing... not even an enema will 'get it all'.... Guess I'll start taking a half of a Cascara Sagrada capsule

Think doc is wrong
Been through the wringer with testing since April 2015. Stomach issues started while training for last half marathon in 2012. I used to be able to strap my shoes on and get of to run for an hour or more most days of the week. Suddenly I was very uncomfortable with gas and urgency during training but

Damage to ureters anyone? 4 days post op.
Hi. I'm now 4 days post op. Doc told me he used a lot of heat around my ureters to free them from dense adhesions. He mentioned a possible complication of ureteral necrosis which he said can rarely occur "several days or more" after surgery. My question is anyone here have damage to their ureters/bladder

I have never posted on here before as I don't really know what to write... I had a 'severe' head injury about 18 years ago in a car accident, as well as some broken bones. All things considered I am very lucky and function very well (externally!). I made a far better recovery than was expected. I didn't

Anxious about returning to work
I will be returning to work very soon. I've been off due to car accident a few months ago. I am for one extremely nervous about driving. The thing that bothers me most is not being able to do my work due to pain and anxiety. My job causes pain anyway and I'm afraid it will be way worse on my neck and

HELP! Apathy is impacting my life :(
Since suffering an ABI IN 2008 I find myself increasingly affected by disinterest and apathy. My wife finds it hurtful as I present as not interested in doing anything and appear lazy and selfish. I've tried looking online and I've only seen suggestions related to depression which I don't feel that

Wedding Anniversary
Today it is our 43rd wedding anniversary. 43 happy years ( with a few unhappy events) and no regrets. I really can't believe that shy 21 year old, trembling as I made my vows, is really me. After a church wedding and reception in the church hall we started on our journey to Petworth where we spent

Don't Read If You Are A Comatose Slug...
Now I want/need a map of the world...and proper information about why the British Army sent soldiers to Bermuda in the 1800's without blinding me with science and a long boring explanation of unnecessary stuff...and I'd quite like a blank wall to put my own exceedingly extended tree on...but that'd mean

AV fistula
Spoiler alert: if you are anxious about ablation complications, stop reading! Six days post-ablation. BOTH groin catheter sites complications, endoscopy for overheated esophagus, hallucinations from anesthesia. Anyone else have AV fistula? What treatment is available? At least my heart seems stable :

Change of CCAC to Pallative
They have finally wore me down and I agreed to let them change our file to a palliative co-coordinator. When she called to make an appointment for interview I asked what she wanted to know and she said the purpose of her visit was to discuss with Jim the options available with "the end of life". I blew

It's the Environment, Stupid.
My "clinical" depression is a result of: • A stressful parenting environment • Growing up impoverished • Having a multitude of siblings (from the same parents) • Having a mentally ill (Schizophrenic) brother that would go crazy • Inability to bring friends over to my house • Personal conflicts

Update
My son fell 20 feet 7 weeks ago. He had large extradural haematoma and was in an induced coma for 10 days. The good news is that he's done really well since then and has now come home. I'm a bit sad because he has chosen to go to his Dad's house (were divorced) and his Dad is out at work all day. I worry

Long term cardio training possibly linked to abnormal heart rhythms
It's a bit late for runners and cyclists who've been exercising for 40 years, but the July edition of Men's Health mentions Manchester University's press release of May 2014 that long term cardio exercise can be linked with abnormal heart rhythms. The University of South Carolina found that running

Mum's birthday
Mum's birthday will soon be upon us and its another of the occasions that can bring into focus what has happened in what seems such a short period of time. The last birthday I had with Mum was a couple of years ago when I think that PSP was starting to take it's grip although not diagnosed - in fact

Colostomy
Dont panic. There is a lot of info on the internet. Type in bladder and bowel foundation. Ring colostomy assoc. Having a stoma is no big deal. It may be temporary for three months to let the intestines heal and will be reversed. I have opted for an ileostomy for incontinence. It will at least give me
