Spoiler alert: if you are anxious about ablation complications, stop reading! Six days post-ablation. BOTH groin catheter sites complications, endoscopy for overheated esophagus, hallucinations from anesthesia. Anyone else have AV fistula? What treatment is available? At least my heart seems stable

Gee you had a rough time hope things get better xx
Thanks to great medical team should be able to overcome obstacles
Oh dear. Sounds like it's gone from bad to worse for you. I assume you are still in hospital.
Can't answer any of your questions, but I know others have had hallucinations or visual peculiarities.
I hope they are able to sort things out for you very quickly and something will start to improve rapidly. Wishing you speedy improvement and look forward to hearing from you with much better news very soon. xxx
Not in hospital, just go back and forth for tests and treatment. Much nicer recuperating at home. Heart holding well. Internet helps me understand what caused the groin complications and optimism for good outcome.
This is all good, especially the heart because the rest are not so important. If you know what's not going right it must help a lot. Yes, good to be at home. If you don't live far away it must be beneficial.
Hi Lorna, Goodness you have had a rough time of it. I am sort of looking for good news stories about ablation!! Believe it or not there are some out there!! I have just got a letter from hospital about my second cardioversion, I have it on 20th August. The first lasted 7 months and my cardiologist went straight to the 'have an ablation, can't remember exactly what she said but she implied that it was more or less a permanent solution for AF'. I decided to give CV another shot, hopefully I may be one of the lucky ones, I wonder if anyone on this site has had a cardioversion that is still holding!!! I hope you feel better soon. Good luck.
Well, the heart is ok so far, just a few unexpected speed bumps.
Lanky lass: I had my cardioversion in February 2014 and have been in NSR ever since apart from a couple of bouts of AF but went back into normal rate within a couple of hours. Fingers crossed it remains like that. Good luck with your second CV.
Hi Ginnik, That's encouraging, I have asked the same question on the Patients.co.uk site but so far no one has sent a reply. There must be quite a lot of people out there like yourself but not everyone is on a support network like us. I don't know why I went back into AF, it's one of those unanswerable questions like why did we get it in the first place? I had just been on a weeks cycling holiday in Spain!! Quite strenuous but don't think that was the cause of the AF. My first CV was in October, felt great afterwards, I could walk uphill without feeling shattered, someone said that it's like 'driving a car with the handbrake on!', I know just what they mean. Let me know how you go on, it's nice to read 'good news' stories. Stay healthy!
How unfortunate for you to suffer so many unwelcome after effects, but if your Afib is cured it will all be worth it! Good luck and keep us posted.
