Coping when someone you love has a brain injury
My 20 year old son fell 20 feet last Wednesday. He landed on his head. He had a large extradural haematoma, has fractured his skull and has a few other injuries. He is still in ITU sedated and ventilated. He has woken up, but when they lighten the sedation he gets too agitated and they have to restate

A Sense of Humour Always Helps.
G'day, I tried this yesterday but don't think it was successful! der! After three wivies and two children neither of whom who speak to me, (that is until this morning, when my daughter text me). Low FIO2 Levels
This is the same thing that happens to me but only when I am in an exasperation, however; by the time I get an appointment with the pulmonologist I have started to feel better. So my FIO2 may drop but not as drastically or as much. So they have always looked at me like I was crazy. There in were the

So, I am not sure why I am doing this, but here goes. I have not been diagnosed with Depression or anything, but I know 100% I am totally f*cked up in the head, and have been since 6 years of age. Yea, I am the cliché, someone growing up with a horrific childhood that no one knows about, through my

Episodes of atrial ectopics after general anaesthetic.
Dear all. Yesterday I had nasal surgery under general anaesthetic. The surgery sought to correct a deviated septum and remove swollen turbinates. My idea is that if I can breathe easier, I can sleep better, and this would be good for my heart. The surgery appears to have gone well, though I am now

Since I have been on this site chatting to all you lovely people I am amazed at just how fast the days seem to go, which means I am getting older quicker, but thanks to you I feel younger and grateful for what I have as some of you are in a lot of pain and have suffered so much. but still write on here

Self medicating via alcohol
Am I the only sinner on this site who turns to alcohol to self medicate. I've been to CDAS who tell me they don't deal with people like me cos I don't drink enough, and I'm a social drinker ( even though I drink alone behind closed doors). I'm seeing a counsellor at the moment and keeping a drink diary

Short trip travel insurance
Hi everyone, Can I ask about experiences with travel insurance please? We are going to fly to France for 4 nights after Easter to stay with some friends in their cottage. My cancer is stable and I am not currently being treated. I believe the EHIC card would cover me for anything related to accidents

Hello all! I've suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. I've led a successful life and have been blessed w/ great family and friends. I've been a teacher since I was in college. Happy valentines
As I was growing up I always wanted lots of cards on valentines day. As I grew older I went through the stages of being happy because I had that special person sending me a card then comes the time that I thought it was a money making con playing on our emotions. even though I've not had a card or gift

Pain Management Doc Appointment
Hi Everyone, I saw the pain management specialist yesterday who has been treating me for 2 years now yesterday. During this time he has tried various procedures for neck, thoracic, lumbar and SI Joint pain. A bit of success here and there but nothing to significantly ease the constant unrelenting pain

Hi everyone, I have been struggling with SIBO for more than 6 months with constant bloating and high abdominal discomfort. I often feel "sick to my stomach"....Two rounds of xifaxan did little to minimize the symptoms which ultimately all returned. I have followed the low fodmap diet for 4 months

Colostomy problems - parastomal hernia?
Don't know why I never asked advice from you lovely ladies before. I am sure someone out there has an answer or can give me some advice. I have a permanent colostomy following debulking surgery in November 2012. Never knew I was going to have one so it was a bit of a shock. I must admit I have never
