Recently diagnosed with AMN
It seemed to be a choice of Methylphenidate, Amantadine, or
Modafinil
. I couldn't find any doctor who would prescribe me Methylphenidate, but I was prescribed Amantadine and
Modafinil
. The Amantadine didn't work, and I wasn't too happy about taking a drug intended for Parkinson's disease.

Modafinil/Provigil tablet to improve cognitive/memory enhancer
The generic name is
Modafinil
, pharmaceutical name Provigil. It states this is for narcolepsy and shift worker disorders. You can purchase tablets online from US. I wondered if this would help with my fatigue and memory problems. Have anybody heard of this drug? Have you tried it?

newby - Hydroxy - week three and still struggling.....
,
modafinil
(for energy). I know this is a pretty impressive cocktail, but it's been honed after years of pain management and I tolerate this quite well usually.

Has any research been done into possible links with any type of bladder issue?
I take
modafinil
to keep me functioning through the day. This was prescribed by the sleep centre in London. They also diagnosed me with ....... 2. Sleep apnoea - it doesn't wake me though! I have yet to get a 'Darth Vader' machine, as I keep forgetting the appointments! 3.

No response to high dose thyroxine - why?
So I can have as much
Modafinil
as I want to help me stay awake (it works, but all it does is shift the sleep debt to a later date). Likewise, I can have as many anti-depressants as I care to ask for (just switched from citalopram to venlafaxine which should be a little more stimulating).

A helpful medication for anyone who suffers from sleep apnea caused by PSP.
Cautionary tale, tho...
Modafinil
is a generic. It wasn't covered by my insurance and the retail price was approximately $850. Talk about sticker-shock.

I now have to come off amitryptiline and start taking a drug called
modafinil
, I can stay on gabapentin so now starts the fun of trying to readjust all my meds and see how things respond.

Does anyone know if the drug
Modafinil
is used in the UK and/ or Ireland to treat PBC related fatigue? Has anyone here had this drug prescribed and if you have, what effect (good or bad) did it have on fatigue? Thank you

Does anyone else take Modafinil?
Mum has just been prescribed it to help reduce daytime sleepiness. Watch this space - will let you know if it helps! ;-)
