Mum has just been prescribed it to help reduce daytime sleepiness. Watch this space - will let you know if it helps!
Does anyone else take Modafinil? - PSP Association
Does anyone else take Modafinil?
My wife tried Nuvigil to give her more pep and less sleepyness but it didn't do anything at max dosage so Neurologist said don't take it. Wife takes 2 hour nap in afternoon which neurologist says is ok and normal and not to worry about it. I think the amount of sleep in daytime should dictate if it's a problem. I do know that there is considerable fatigue with PSP. My wife can take about one major event/outting a day then fatigue sets in. I'd tend to not go on drugs unless sleep is a real issue during the day. Sometimes the side effects aren't worth the solution, if there is one. Just my two-cents worth.

Thanks for replying Jim.
Got to the point where Mum was sleeping for 22 out of 24 hours a day it was obviously having a knock on effect on her eating and drinking - quite apart from any thing else!! Having stopped the clonazepam and started the Modafinil she seems much more awake and has even started feeding herself again It's early days yet but (like everything with this disease) we'll just have to see how it goes
love to you and your wife

I agree with u jimandsharynp I have PSP but have to limit the daily activities. Last week we had something on every day so I re scheduled one of them. I try to learn Bridge on Mondays & Thursday & was very tired last night Thursday are extra lessons but only 3 so will not last long Mondays wil continue. I find Bridge very mentally stimulating l & the club where I go people are most helpful & kind to me. Marytea13
Ah - it was clonazepam causing sleepiness - clonazepam is a great drug to help with spasms but it has side effects -how much was your mom on? My dad used clonazepam and only got up to 3mg at the very end. May want to consider going back to clonazepam but just reduce the amount she was on. - -I'll be interested in seeing if Modafinil will give her spasm relief. .. keep us posted.
