Insulin and Prostate.
This is a VERY interesting video to gentlemen of a certain age concerning enlarging of the prostate. Previous to watching this my take was a shrug of the shoulders in that it's 'something that comes to men with age. I'd gone as far as I could in researching the condition and came up against 'testosterone

Symptoms but high peak flow
Hiya, I'm still waiting to be diagnosed but due to Covid-19, I haven't been able to meet the asthma nurse again. They think I have allergy induced/seasonal asthma as my main triggers are aerosols, hay-fever and tomatoes (intolerant). They suggested I track my peak flow so they have good evidence when

Technical issue/query regarding spirometry calculations
Right, so. Bear with me, as it’s a fairly long read, and I don’t know that anyone will have any thoughts or suggestions anyway. I am going to speak to the physiologists again, who are as desperate to understand this as I am, but thought it’s worth a punt posting here all the same to see if any of the

My Swedish supper
This is probably the tastiest beige plate I have eaten since I went low carb. Swedish meatballs in a rich sauce; sautéed cabbage and leeks;celeriac home fries; redcurrant & blackcurrant sauce. 😋 (plating my food for photography increases my pleasure, so I have to share the photos with someone. sorry

Low Free Triiodothyronine Levels Are Associated With Risk of Frailty in Older Adults With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
A peculiar paper. The idea that we should measure FT3 in order to assess risk of frailty seems distinctly half-baked. We see so many times assertions that it is entirely "normal" for older people to have higher TSH and lower FT4 and FT4, it at least could be welcome to see low FT3 highlighted as having

Fasting and visceral fat (or at least waist size)
I started fasting via Michael Mosley's Fast800. So low calorie (I was between 800-1000 kcal/day), low carb, IF. In the first month I lost 7.4kg, and 10cm off my waist. https://healthunlocked.com/fasting-and-furious/posts/142414943/1st-month-fasting-lchf Then I joined HU, took advice from various people

Investigating Proton therapy for salvage treatment following RARP
I had RARP nine months ago, and I'm investigating salvage treatment now. I am G9/10 with pT3a NO EPE but with PCa in the margins. My bone scan was negative. Prior to RARP my PSA had reached 4.9 after doubling from the previous year. I'd be very interested in hearing from others who have used proton therapy

Movicol not working
My 4.5 year old has suffered from constipation since she was 6 months old. She got referred to a paediatrician. We tried disimpaction with movicol in May/June 2019 - 8 sachets a day for 5 weeks. This did not work and we were told to take her to A&E by the paediatrician because he was so concerned about

Underactive thyroid / M.E. help needed analysing blood test results
I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid aged 14 after 4 years of feeling ill and put on 125 mg of levothyroxine. Unfortunately at the same time I was diagnosed with glandular fever. I have spent years oscillating between feeling well and hardly being able to get out of bed . I practice yoga, rest

Just a little rant!
Hi all, after what was a good 12 weeks for me with no admissions - the longest i had stayed at home since October was 2 weeks, everything feels like it’s going backwards! I have had 2 admissions in the last 4 weeks, one was requiring ITU for 2 nights, I was discharged on Wednesday this week, and again

LCHF v Keo
Yes-@MBAnderson, that’s great on both of you. Dr Terry Wahl’s had remarkable /miraculous improvement on essentially the same w/more extreme measures> keto . I think dairy and gluten free is attainable and if so, will be the best for me (& maybe most of us w Neuro disease). Although Mischley does not

Anyone Diagnosed with GCA under the age of 50?
I’m curious to know if anyone here was diagnosed with GCA under the age of 50. I’ve had this concern in the past that I have it. I had a c reactive protein test done in March and it was very low in the normal range. However, recently my scalp has become itchy and tender again. I’ve had some eye

High protein low carb. Any posts on interesting menus? Health tips?
Got to eat something a bit more interesting than omelettes and meat 😂 One week is enough of that so health tips would be good too please. I really love vegetables but I genuinely eat for england if I make a healthy veg soup.
