Covid-19
The UK Chief Medical Officer has just said something very interesting, at least I hadn’t heard this before. Covid-19 is a two stage virus. First stage is flu. Most people never progress but stage 2 is viral pneumonia. The old and those with chronic diseases are more likely to move to this stage. Some

Transplant Coordinator issues
Has anyone requested to change the coordinator assigned to them when they got listed? Before my own listing, I watched my Dad go through kidney transplant. Based on his experience, I thought that the coordinator would be "on my team" and provide support through this journey - was I assuming too much

COVID-19 Update and ADPKD?
I have ADPKD and was diagnosed in 2017, and have large cysts on my pancreas, liver and kidneys, but have relatively decent function. Given that CKD has been listed as an underlying health condition that is in the 'at risk' category and need to do more to social distance/protect, what would be the best

Hello 'Everyone', I'm Andrew and have a 'Number' of Skin Issues. I have Vasculitis and I also had a Kidney Transplant, way back, in 2013. As a result or, all of this, I am heavily Immuno- Suppressed which means I get.... Warts, Lumps, Growths (only one was cancerous, and was fully removed), Psoriasis

I am concerned about latest PM announcement
Developed Under active thyroid in 2005 then I fell ill in 2007 which tumbled into 2008 and unable to work with no diagnosis. I had an adrenal crisis which put me in hospital for a month in an induced coma, I was lucky to survive. Then I was ok for a while when I became seriously ill and landed in hospital

Worrying times
So at last this useless government have told us what illnesses come under the under lying health problems list. Already knew that we'd be at risk due to the lupus but throw in the CKD and dialysis too. I'm going into work this morning on a later train so I can speak to my boss and see what's happening

Urologist appointment
I’m off to see the urologist on Wednesday to see if my endometriosis is on my bladder too. I’ve also got to have a cystoscopy after. Has anyone had this before so I know what to expect? Also the bladder pain and seeing blood I’ve been getting is beginning to get some much worse. I’ve being seeing out

Yikes- it’s like waiting for an unexplored bomb to go off!
I’ve got colonoscopy procedure tomorrow- to say I’m anxious is an understatement- I’ve taken the two senna tablets this morning at 8.30 but so about 40 mins ago - so far.... nothing! I’m dreading the onset of the diarrhoea... helllllp!

Refused a kidney transplant
Hi Everyone, it’s been quite while since I have posted anything, but what I just went through tonight still has me wondering if I made the right decision. I was working tonight, when I received a phone call from my transplant center. I was offered a kidney, and I refused it. I just had a doctors appointment

Coronavirus- self isolation, do I remove my child from school?
What do I do...I'm immune supressed and coronavirus has been confirmed in my town. (Currently one case, probs more tho) I'm a single mum with a 4 year old. Do I self isolate and pull her our of school and her usual activities at the weekends or do I continue to let her go to school and simply self isolate

Coronavirus & kidney transplant
My husband is 3 months post kidney transplant (donated by his sister) and on immune suppressants now for life. Anyone have insight into how coronavirus might affect him if he was to get it? Anyone have any advice?

A new paper strongly linking chronic kidney disease and lowered creatine disposal rate with hypothyroidism & TPOAb
This paper just out in Thyroid shows a strong link between chronic kidney disease and hypothyroidism and TPOAb, leading to a poorer action of disposal of creatine by lowered excretion.

Just now learning my GFR's were low for 5 years.
With the world under a medical crisis, I don't know if I should wait. My GFR has been from 55-64 for the past 5 years but nobody alerted me. My doc recently had a nurse call and tell me about it and ordered repeat blood tests. Twice. It's now 64. I'm Freaked. My beloved sister had 3 kidney transplants

Insurance cover for Belatacept anti rejection infusion therapy. How do I get insurance for this drug therapy? My Medicare ends in 3 months?
Has anyone else had experience in getting Belatacept covered (or not covered) under their ACA insurance provider or other insurance provider? If so, how did you go about it? What was the process? How easy was it to get them to decide to cover it or not? I am going on three years after a successful kidney

kidney issues with Levo
Hi Just had a call from GP as I had a 'bad' kidney blood result ( this was taken due to a pain in the side and not related to Hypothyroidism) …. The nurse then asked me to come in for my annual check for Thyroid - including more bloods for kidney and an essential blood pressure review apparently ! Here's

Anyone know about CIPD
Change of diagnosis. I was diagnosed with mononeuritis multiplex, secondary to vasculitis in 2015. I was on long term steroids followed by two years on mmf. With some symptoms still remaining I have been referred to another hospital where they are discussing whether I have CIPD, but am a bit of an enigma

Week 1, Run 2, Attempt 2.
Nailed it this morning! Though not without my usual comedy of errors ;) Woke early, as per my new regime, and peered out of the window to check on the weather... windy and rainy. Now, I'm not worried about a bit of bad weather, in fact I was quite looking forward to it, however, kit wise I wasn't sure
